Show the lads your Silverstone cases

Hi XysteR

That's a very nice looking setup you got going on there. I want that rig! :D
What sort of temps do those X2's run at?

They do get quite hot, i know for sure i could dry my hair quite quickly if i poked my head around the back of the casing lol As for the actual temps of the cards. i'm not entirely sure as i've never checked. Both cards are stock clocks, no need for OCing these 2 tinkers lol

Sitting at idle if i put my fingers on the rear of the cards they burn to the point that i have to move my fingers away lol Both cards are getting water soon though.

Just checked temps 77 degrees

That they are, but nothing will touch them for performance/noise ratio

It's funny, I bought the Silent Eagles because I thought they'd look better, but, seeing Si's rig, I'm tempted to put the Noctua back to how nature intended it ;)

Anyways, here are a few new additions:

Some Cold Cathode action

And a new drive

The rest of the additions are here.

i was exactley the same when mine arrived.
will look forward to your build.

Scroll through others to get ideas for various cable management etc.

I borrowed Diggsy's FDD holder idea which turned out to be an ace move.
Oh and Willy's idea of the Xigmateks
Oh and Mr_X_plosions' Black TRUE

so as you can see it's worth a look

I'm getting the rest of my parts this weekend, so will have a build log up sometime sunday I imagine.

I've currently got a Sunbeam cooler, but am planning on upgrading to a TRUE in a few weeks.

Not sure about the Xigmatecs, but will see what happens. Thanks for the advice :).

The Fortress is surprisingly roomy considering it's relatively small size, could easily handle an SLI or Crossfire setup, and some are using it to watercool too - see rjkoneill's BUILD LOG: Silverstone Fortress FT01 BW Mod Project thread - he's done some amazing stuff with that case!

Yes I am startin to think the cosmos would be just too big for me :/
I am looking for a smaller desk so seems daft buyin a huge case now.
The main reason I thought id need a big one is that I have a fair few HDDs to fit in, multi gfx not an issue, not a gamer.

kinda between the fortress and seeing what the new antec p193 wil be like.

what spec you going for?

Pheom II X3 720
MSI 790FX GD70
Corsair XMS3 4GB
Be Quiet 750

Which I'm getting on Friday.

Asus 4890 possibly to replace my 512Mb 4850, or I'll wait till the Sapphire Toxic 4890 comes out, not sure yet. I'm then planning on getting a 2nd GPU in a month or so, hence the PSU.

Also have a 320Gb Caviar Blue because I keep most documents/files on my external HD.

Planning on OCing the CPU to around 3.5GHz but may go further if I can.

I have to admit that HDD's were also an issue for me, but putting 2 of then into the 5.25" bays along with the extra fan has really helped things a lot - I didn't want to have to use the second 3.5" bay in the middle as I think it'll make the airflow to my GPU too 'dirty' - the lack of a side fan was also a concern, but now with the extra front fan my GPU temps are almost the same as before with the Antec300. The positive pressure system of the Fortress does seem to keep dust at bay from what I've seen so far, so it's all good!

I would say that you could get up to 10 x HDD's internally if you used all 7 of the removeable 3.5" bays and 3 of the 5.25" bays as well, and that's assuming you'd only have one DVDRW drive and a fan controller (which seems to be favorite with this case).

Well, got my case home and cracked open the box.

Wow. Thats all I can realy say, I've seen it in pictures and videos but nothing quite compares to how it looks right in front of you.

Damn I'm glad I bourght this thing.

ahh that's good i was worried about the placement of the bays. appreciate the help :)

really starting to think this case is the best option still keen on seeing the p193 though first, fan of the antec p series.
