hmmm - did everyone take a pic of their backbox just for this thread or did they just *happen* to have one available ? ;) :D

I took a few pics of when they built the exhaust for mine - I just picked a perinent one for the thread :)

Mine was taken in March 2006, took a pic of all the ACS bits on my car. ;)

I was going to upload a pic and then I realised the Golf doesn't actually have a visible exhaust.

Why the hell do they do that. I mean I know the car is slower than a dog toeing a jumbo jet but the car's rear looks so ridiculously gay. The front of the Golf is absolutely stunning and looks extremely aggressive, but the back is crap. It'd look a billion times better if a neat exhaust was visible, even thought it's still a 1.4. It's the one thing that really annoys me off about it. I've considered getting one of those fake exhaust chav kits but the Golf is a reasonably high class car and I don't really want to rape it :D

Just LOOK. I mean how crap does this look.

(That one's not mine, I couldn't be bothered to go and take a pic)

I've given up hope on it tbh. It's so slow it doesn't deserve any money to make it look good. The other thing about it is you'd think the 1.4 would mean low insurance but because we bought it brand new the insurance is still over a grand .

I'm saving up for my own car in the mean time :)

Call me a ******* but every time I see a stupidly big zorst on a crappy car (like old rusty boxmobile) I feel like sticking my foot in it and standing on it.
But these guys didn't do anything wrong so I aint damaging their cars.

That's quite a strange reaction to have!!

I know you prob not referring to my car, but I'm gonna justify it anyway! The large straight through bore helps once the turbo is spooled and in my opinion anyways sounds great popping and banging.

But i do agree that 2 or 4 drainpipes on the back of an old nail looks awful!

Agreed! But in a way, I agree with it.

Old slow steam powered Corsa with big yet quiet exhaust = ok I guess
Old slow steam powered Corsa with big and stupidly loud exhaust = awful

I've got no beef with anyone who wants to stick a big exhaust on a car, as long as they aren't trying to make it sound like a monster of a car.

Sounds more like the turbo to be honest

Again, as I stated in my previous post, surely if it was a problem with the turbo then it would be a constant thing (rather than 10 minutes per month approx) and there would be smoke coming out both pipes, and there would be something wrong with the power output of the engine? I tried belting it off roundabouts and up hills etc. while the exhaust was bellowing smoke and there was definitely no difference in the speed or sound of the car.
Going by my log it's not due another blowout for 2-3 weeks yet but if it comes at a convenient time I'll post pics or a vid of it if it is of any assistance :)
