*** Show us your bikes! ***

Hey Jon,

Where did you take it? Anywhere in Harrogate?

Hi Dave,

Yeah it's "Daytuner" in Killinghall. heading towards Ripley at the end of the bridge after you come out of the 40 limit and take a right (opposite the turning that all the "HACS" lorries go down).

Has done work for a few people I know, has loads of stuff in from Turbo Hayabusa kit-cars to sparkling restored classic 2-stroke bikes and GSXR race bikes. Seems to have a very good reputation :) .

Edit: He just called me! Off to pick it up and see the final dyno run, will try get a video on my phone :D .

Recent parts replaced were the front disc rotors, front callipers, clutch lever, clutch cable, battery and rear shock absorbers, as well as the left hand mirror and front disc pads - mot and tax to June 2011. Im negotiating for the top box and bits as werent included in the sale...said to be few months old - so a 45l Givi, back rest, top frame and rear light - how much reckon theyre worth?

P.S. Draeger... am I the only one having withdrawal symptoms from RSVzone?

Yep. Looks like CrashTD has lost the lot, backups included. There is a new "temporary" Zone set up but it's very sad that all the backups are lost. There was a shedload of info, pictures and tips on there which are now lost forever. :(

Also, Sabre gave me a heads up on Facebook about the new forums Griff was setting up over at http://apriliaperformance.myfastforum.org/

There is the possibility of salvaging some of the thread content from the Zone via Google cached pages and Wayback Machine, a few of us are working on that.

How did the dyno go then?. Grinning from ear to ear, results wise?. :)

How did they manage to loose the source and backups? Thats pretty shoddy sounding.

When i did the realzoneriders.com forum for mates I was taking backups at least once a week and storing them in several places, even though it was just a tiny site. Thankfully now I have nothing to do with the hosting or running of it. some twonk is running it in joomla and looks horrid.

Also how did the Dyno go?

Dyno run is something I have always fancied. My mate has one in his garage, keep forgetting to ask about an organised dyno day just to see what people are putting down and for a laugh.

Ok guys here it is:

(Click for bigger image).

Not quite the peak BHP I was expecting but it's a very conservative dyno. He showed me some other graphs for RSV's he's mapped and even with a full 2-2 exhaust system they were making around 120bhp so it's more about the INCREASE than the actual peak it's reading. Mine made more (122bhp) than one with the Akraprovic SBK 2-2 system  . I should note, the blue line is with all the mods fitted but not mapped. So it would be even less without the air filter, exhaust (manifold and silencer) and Eprom chip fitted. Red is obviously the after results :D . On another dyno I would expect it to show at least 5bhp more than this one.

After riding it... Wow! Feels incredibly smooth and pulls harder all the way through the rev range, the 5-6k rev dip in power is completely eliminated :) . Even at part throttle openings it just feels better, more controllable.

The dyno run did show up a slight problem with the bike... my clutch slips just a little at peak torque (almost bang on 8k revs) so I'll be taking the plates out and roughing them up as a preventative bit of maintainance but might need a new clutch eventually (maybe treat myself to a proper slipper clutch if I'm still loving the bike at that point!).

And here's a video  (quite long, ~5mins!):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyPzKefGAGU

(youtube killed the quality quite a lot, anywhere better I can put it??).

Awesome stuff. Enjoy!!. The Youtube vid is fine, bet it sounded a tad noisy inside when he was testing that on the dyno!.

For some reason on youtube the first time I watched it the quality was terrible but since watching it again it's improved! Was only done with my phone so can't expect miracles I suppose :) .

It was VERY loud, sound proofed room with the doors shut and the amount of fans and extractors going... I had ear muffs on luckily, but it still sounded as loud as listening to the video on youtube! :o .

You tempted Draeger? ;) .

Yeah, when you first upload a vid to Youtube it takes a short time for the quality to settle down and improve. In fact it tells you that when you are uploading it or are finished uploading the clip AFAIK.

Tempted?. Yes, been tempted to get mine dyno'd for a while. I mean it is sat with twin high mount Renegade exhausts, Evoluzione airkit and a Rhein Teknic ECU remapped chip but it's never been dyno'd so I'm obviously missing out on a bit more power and more importantly, a smoother and more torquey ride.

That said, I really haven't ridden the thing this year much at all and I'm considering selling up. I'm undecided for now. Our first baby is on the way and although I don't ever see the point coming where the missus makes me sell the bike ( she has already said if I want to keep it then that is my decision ) when the little 'un appears I will have even less time to ride the Mille so it will indeed become a big red paperweight for some considerable time.

Decisions, decisions. Will be new car time soon and I'm determined to get something that will be a hoot to drive just in case I have to hang up my biking boots.

So far I've a shortlist of - BMW X5 4.8is, Porsche Cayenne 4.5 or if I can stretch the finances a bit further an Audi RS6 Avant 5.0 V10. All practical enough for a family ( just don't tell the missus about the mpg on any of them!! ). :p

I've just picked up a 2010 Street Triple R, lovely bike I have to say. The only thing i'm finding hard to get along with is the gear change... very clunky compared to Suzuki/Honda super sport bikes. I love the torque of the 675 engine though!

Please excuse the blue leathers/helmet on an Orange bike... I have just come from a GSX-R!

..Also, ignore the chicken stripes, the bike only had about 200miles on it!
