*** Show us your bikes! ***

New chain & sprockets, new Iridium plugs, fitting new downpipes (that I already had), full service, MoT, new battery... plus other little bits I forgot.

Been stood a while & I did the school boy error of having fuel in the tank, so it had gunked a bit in the carbs/filters so they're getting cleaned out too.

Actually about what I expected in cost, for being laid up for so long.

That was fast!

What's the story? :p

edit: It took you a day less than 3 weeks ;)

Well it was my 3rd outing this year and I was finally getting comfy on the bike and pushed too hard on the hairpin. Probably still a bit too cold (It later snowed over lunch??) on a tired tyre. Altogether the front just gave up and I lowsided.

Was fine, went out the next session with some cable ties and finished the day on a high!

Out again this sunday riding on "two face" lol :p

(Poor visor scratch!)

So.... After almost 3 years I can finally post in this thread again! :D

Excuse the rubbish photos, will get some proper ones once she has been maintained, cleaned and polished this weekend, to say I am excited is an understatement :D

Polished? Mate, that is clean enough! Does this mean I have to do one of my decent cleans before the meet? As I have been slack recently lol.

I want to come to the meet but I wont be able to on the Saturday at least :( still aiming to hopefully meet you reading guys in the morning if I can!

Its pretty dirty, that's just the nice Essex sun making it shine :D I plan to clean up all the fairings and get everything greased myself, oil change etc so I know its all been done properly!

Blimey.

Don't get me wrong or anything, I accept that that's probably the going rate. It's just a shock as those are all jobs I'd do myself.

Which is great if you know what you're doing. I don't so hence have to pay the garage to do it.

I'd love to know how & tinker myself, but that nagging doubt you might not have done something correctly could mean you're on yer ass on worse.

Finally finished changing parts and cleaning it up, not the fastest or nicest looking bike in the world, but it still puts a smile on my face;

Well after 2 hours of playing with the dremal I was left with this

Then a further hour of faffing around and it finally went on.

I can see now why I never bothered to fit one to my old R1, what a nightmare. Has really tidied up the rear end though.

The plate is just velcrod on at the moment. Going to need something stronger. Does feel secure at all.

I had one of these after passing my test years ago. Really miss it. Was a great bike, very easy to have fun on, without going so fast that you'll kill yourself. Also has great fuel economy, is cheap to service, and is easy to work. Plus I loved the looks too.

nice purchase mate. Already turning into a classic the K5. Should hold its value nicely. How much you pay out of interest.

Every time I see that R1 I check eBay to see if there are any nice 2001 models listed.

You are a jammy git, kidloco!

:p cheers. It's certainly a keeper. Looking at getting a ZX10R or BMW thou this year but I'll still keep the R1. Can't wait to get it on the track this year to see how all the mods I've done are working.
