*** Show us your bikes! ***

FINALLY!!!!. Got out for a short run for the first time this year. Nipped up to Knockhill to see what was doing. Good to get out again, I had a grin on my face a mile wide from start to finish. I had honestly forgotten just how fast this thing is.

Apologies for cruddy pics from iPhone.

Im a happy boy now :D

nice purchase mate. Already turning into a classic the K5. Should hold its value nicely. How much you pay out of interest.

Thanks mate, well pleased with it :D
I paid £4100 for it, 11k miles on it, so quite a bit under what others were going for, most of the dealers wanted £5k for ones that had one much more miles!
Came with the DB Screen, shorty levers only cheap ones mind, the Yoshi Can and a Power commander 3 with K&N Filter.

Welcome back Fireskull, and what a return! :D

I keep looking at thous.... I love the Daytona to bits, it's a brilliant bike, but I keep eyeing them up (especially the R1... I won't crash it this time!) and thinking "I want one".

Must resist the urge, but it still doesn't stop me thinking of selling the 675 - might get £4,500 if I'm lucky, that only leaves a tad more to pick up a nice 1000 :)

Thanks mate :D

The 675 was my only other option really, but that would have limited me to track riding really, I look huge on the thing and its not comfy for long periods of riding, as much as I loved its handling I want to do some trips on bikes again and the k5 GSXR is a perfect size for being over 6ft.... that and its a beast :p

£4500 will pick you up a nice k5/6 1000 ;) better be quick though the prices are rising already!

Boo, wanted to get out on my RSV today but been at work :( . Did get home and finally put my stomp grips on though!

Have to let us know how you get on with the stomp grips. Keep meaning to get some, I know they dont look great but suppose to really be good to use.

So... I did my first bike track day yesterday at Rockingham in the lovely March heat. it was EPIC, I loved every minute of it.

Here are some pics (excuse the GoPro stuck on my head lol)

I left my worn Pirelli Corsa 3's on to finish them off... this is what they looked like after the day.

Really impressed me though, they were so grippy and gave me so much confidence.

I filmed every session in full HD but I was gutted to find the camera angle was wrong so all I filmed was my bike and 10ft in front of me :( so gutted about that.

Overall though it was a fantasic day and I will be doing another for sure in the next couple of months. Best £60 I have every spent.

Awesome! :D you were so lucky with the weather, so jealous!

Who took those pictures? They are nice and sharp! Gutted about the GoPro though, would have been good to see how you progress with more TD's.

Glad you liked the Corsa 3's they are an excellent tyre, fairing scrapingly low grip :p

Yeah.. we were really, really lucky with the weather, I even got sun burnt! :D

The missus took the pictures on a D80 with a big lens, she didn't do to bad. ha

I'm getting the Rosso Corsa's fitted as I type this. If it had been wet I would not of used the Corsa 3's as it would have been dangerous.

Were you able to get your knee down before doing the track day?

I'm considering chopping in my GSXF for a proper sportsbike, with the intent of doing some trackdays. I was talking to my Dad about it the other night and he said "You're young, you've got no commitments, why not?" I realised he'd made quite a good point.

I get my knee down on the road so it was even easier on track. :)

Your Dad does make a good point, do it while you can.. I wish I had started earlier.. but i'm only 24 so plenty of time left I hope. :)

I'm 27 and single, so I don't have to justify spending the cash to anyone. :) I wish I'd started earlier, it's so much fun.

I've never got my knee down. I've tried, but I've never been confident enough to lean it over that far knowing how much muck is usually on the roads. I could probably take the bike to a big roundabout but I've never been that bothered about it.

What's the 750 like? I'm either 6' 1" or 6' 2", depending on which tape measure you use, so I don't want a bike that's massively cramped. I don't want a litre bike yet as I don't think I'd be able to do it justice. Would I notice a huge difference between the performance of my GSX650F and say a GSXR 600?

Or a 748? hehe, buy itttt!!!

Haha, seriously, in terms of knee down, I forced my self to take 'twisty' routes to work for 2 years on my commute to my old job, forcing my self to become natural in cornering, knee down was not a priority. But it happened very quickly once you realise that getting your knee down is not the main point, it's moving your body into a good enough position that makes cornering much easier and smoother.

I would say yes you would notice the difference. After a quick Google the figures are:

2009 GSX650F - 75bhp / 43ft/lb's
2008-2010 GSXR600 - 112bhp / 46ft/lb's

So yes, although the torque is pretty much the same I think you would still feel a fair difference. the GSXR would rev a lot harder and carry more power.

I had a k7 GSXR 600 and it did not feel slow at all.

If it was me I think I would be getting the 750 though. All the advantages of the 600 with the power off (almost) a 1000cc. Just means you're not working the box so hard all the time.

You should notice a big difference, specially in the way the power is delivered and handling more than anything, and being 27 you should have the luxury of being able to test ride anything with no problem, so get testing :D
I am also just over 6'1", speaking from experience I loved the size of the k4/5 600/750, I could happily ride them all day, the K6 onwards is where they started making them smaller and more cramped for the taller rider.
