Show us your kitty cats

That's so cool that he's looking out for your well being, amazing intuition!

The head nudging is a brilliant cat trait, when Steve was in his prime he'd head nudge so hard that it would physically hurt, caught me painfully on the nose and in the eye loads of times.:D

Amazing strength indeed, quite often if the bedroom door wasn't wide open enough for him to walk through, he'd slam into it so hard it would hit the side wall with a real thump, easily loud enough to wake me up, having been succesful in waking me he'd then keep me awake by cleaning himself vigorously on the bed with his high decibel licking!:D

Reminds me of Simon's cat!

Our old cat had one of those soundless meows so she'd open her mouth but hardly anything came out, so she could never get attention by making any noise so she used to bounce on the pillow to wake us up..as she was always a bit portly it was likely waking up at sea! When she went to the vets she used to walk by herself behind the vet to the scales to be weighed past all the people in the waiting room. I really miss those open mouthed looks as she sashayed past heh.

Lost my cat tonight :(. Feel like **** :(.

Collapsed in the garden about 8pm, took her to the vet. Seem to be stabilising after having a drip, got the call about half hour ago. Had another episode/fit, I dunno and passed away :(. Vet said she was not in pain. Completely sudden, had no health issues before.

Had her for 15 years, since she was a kitten. Had cats/pets before and it seems losing them does not get any easier :(.

Thanks mate, really appreciate that.

He did have a great life for sure, being nice and wild here it's the perfect place for a cat or any animal to live. Even the garden is wild most of the time, 'cat's love long grass'.... that was always my excuse to myself for seldom getting the mower out :D + the engine noise used to scare the bejesus out of him! I'll have to think of another excuse now!:o

Will you be getting another kitty...or will you wait quite a while before doing that? Didnt know that cats liked tall grass. Will work fine for me if I get a kitteh cuz I hate gardening!

:( Sorry to hear this, 15 years a long time.

Thanks.

27 this year, so she's been with me/family since I was around 12. Pretty much there with me from child to adult.

Has hit my mum hardest, was basically her baby, seems to be nothing I can say to make it better :(.

It will be a tough thing to do but ...you will just have to give your Ma time. Once some weeks pass you could tell her to remember the fun times...and not just the end. It will help. Like smit101 you gave your kitty the best life possible!

woke up one morning to use the toilet...

Sorry to hear that Armadillo, I know exactly what you're going through as my cat of 15 years passed on less than a week ago, still got the brick in the chest/stomach feeling.

Not much I can say to console you other than to just hang in there, the first few days are the worst, you then begin to rationalise better and realise you gave you're cat a very long and happy life.

Might sound stupid, but she could be a pain sometimes ,laying on things she was not supposed to, scratching things, yet if it meant I could have her back, I'd let her do it all.

:(

Sorry to hear about the recent cat losses. I know exactly how you feel, unfortunately. Lost my cat Bandit a few weeks ago. He was a couple of months short of reaching his twentieth birthday. Just went downhill in a couple of days, the Vet said it was probably renal failure and old age.

Just about getting over it.

And Flower, our moggy, was introduced to her first large house spider this evening. She looked at it, then in a fleeting instant looked up at me with her mouth wide open in a 'OMG it's fun - and it's food!' expression.

Great stuff :D

Kitty caught her first fly today and then proceeded to eat it :o

She then had her first wee that wasn't in the litter tray, on our very old hall carpet - queue lots of time cleaning it with bio washing powder as I'm told its good to get the smell out so the cats don't start using it as a toilet!

Pet losses suck, and given the average cat lifespan over that of a dog, it can be even worse.

I remember having to put our first boxer down at the age of 13, had him from 6 to 19, literally my entire lucidly memorable childhood. :(

Sorry about the bad news for smit and Armadillo. :( Made me very sad forages after catching up on this thread this morning. My heart goes out to both if you, I know I'll be gutted when Florence is gone.

At least some of the kitten and awsome cat pics have balanced things up, especially the pair in the digger cab! :D

Thanks Wolvers, that's very generous of you mate.:)

Nearly a week now since Steve passed and the intense sense of loss I felt for the first few days is beginning to fade. I'd just like to thank everyone for being so kind and posting such encouraging and understanding messages, you've all been a great help, thanks again.

Yeah the pic's are superb, gotta love the sink cat!:D

Sorry to hear about your cat too Armadillo. Really sad time for you and your mum.

The pics remind me why we have them and what a mad variety there is among them!

Sorry for your loss, reading your post made me think of my old cat, Teddy (not my choice of name!), who died back in 2002.

Here are a couple of pics...

He was a bit of a bruiser and I was the one that found him after he'd been born. We raised him playing with balls of string, stalking each other in the woods and various other things you do as kids with a pet. He was a very intelligent as well, i remember he once showed real concern when i whacked my head on a book shelf. He was killed in his prime unfortunately, I still miss him from time to time :)
