Show us your kitty cats

I have yet to come up for a name for this guy any suggestions?

I think you should call him 'Michael Stewart the former Hearts and Manchester United player'. It's not very catchy though :(

Hi all

I had to rush Billy to the vet today as his back legs were not working, he was panting like a dog and was very lethargic. Vet did an examination and couldn't see anything physically wrong with him. Gave him an anti-inflammatory injection and we are going back tomorrow morning to see how he is. He looks miles better than he was this morning, is walking OK and has eaten. He isn't his usual self but I am sure that will come in time.

Now, I have been a very bad pet owner and have not insured him, not because I didn't want to, it has just slipped my mind. What can I do now or who can I insure him with? As I understand it, because I have taken him to the vet this will now be considered a pre-existing condition? Am I screwed?

Obviously whatever happens I will pay to ensure he is ok but going forward what do I do? Any help is appreciated.

Let me refer you to pet plan and get you two months free.

When Lola was ill when she was 10 months old, and I changed to petplan, I said about when Lola had been ill, they said provided she didn't get ill with it for 12 months (was a stomach complaint) then they would cover her for it. I duly rang up after 12 months and they now cover her for tummy issues.

That is brilliant, thank you very much. The vet said that because she couldn't see anything physically wrong she wanted to refer him to a neurologist and probably for an MRI. At £2k+ I was a little frantic. I will pay it, it is completely my fault for not being on top of this, but moving forward I would like to know he is covered for it. We don't know what "it" is at this point in time, could have just been dehydration, he could have jumped for something and missed and hit his head causing a bit of concussion, who knows really.

When signing up and the question "are there any pre-existing conditions" what do I actually answer? That he has been to the vet for what appeared to be a hind leg problem but nothing was conclusive so we don't actually know what was wrong?

You have to be honest, because should you need to claim they'll get a full history from the vets anyway.
Email me [email protected] and we can sort things out

Isn't it the case that Pet Plan (and the others) will only pay out for the first instance of any problem? And then after that, you aren't covered for recurrences of that problem.

It's partly why I've decided against getting (costly) insurance. What's the point when, like all insurance, they will simply find a way not to pay out...

e: not to mention that most pet insurance has a £100 excess, and since most routine vet's bills will be less than that, you'll never get a penny from your insurers, unless something nasty happens.

Decided for me it's better to put money aside into a fund for vets bills.

^^lulz. Why you call him "Mute" tho?
I've wondered the same thing ha. I think it's because he barely meows. Someone else named him and I'm not even sure who.

Edit: Ah, okay. Our previous cat, years back, was called Mew. This one is called Mewt (short for Mewtwo and sounds like mute - he's only recently started to meow).
