Why bathe a cat when they are perfectly able to keep themselves clean?

Depends if the cat actually does keep itself clean? I was told by my sisters friend who had a long haired cat who didn't keep himself clean and he stank of feces and urine all the time unless she bathed him..

Indeed, so I'll wait and see...if he is meticulously clean, then great! If not, it's bath time for Tony :p

Anyway, on a side not, the cats protection league are contacting me to arrange a home visit...which is fine, but I'm a little nervous! :o

I have no idea what to expect, what they will be looking for etc does anyone have any experience? Obviously I want the cat so apart from making sure it's tidy is there anything else I should be doing? :)

Thanks,
Jake

Haha, they don't care if your house is tidy (though obviously everyone wants it to be!) they'll be checking what the roads around your house are like, etc.

RSPCA wouldn't let me have any cats from them because even though we live on a VERY quiet cul-de-sac, we live near the M62 motorway - even though the cats would have to get out of our garden, over the wall, run across a load of allotments, scale a very high chainlink fence, across a ditch, over another wooden fence and then onto a motorway full of very fast cars which cats are terrified of

Suffice to say the two I subsequently bought have never been even close to getting near the motorway!

What kind of road do you live on?

Looks fine to me. Think cats' protection are a little more laid back and take things on a case-by-case basis, than the RSPCA who must follow every rule to the absolute letter whether it makes sense or not. Good luck for your visit :)

This is my street - if you spin round so you can see the motorway, mine's the last house on the right with the two garages. Thought my street was quiet enough but not for the RSPCA - Should've tried Cats' Protection!

That sounds pretty bad, but also unusual. I would have thought that was a sign of an unhealthy cat.

If you have a cat with long hair, it's good to get in the habit of grooming them with a brush. Once they are used to it, they love it, it reduces furballs, and you can keep an eye on how well they are cleaning themselves.

You can do it with short-haired cats too, even though it's rarely needed - it's a good way of helping to create the close bond between cat and cat's pet, er, I mean cat and owner.

I never had a cat before and until a few years ago I didnt really like them. When I moved to Edinburgh me and my gf got a kitten to keep my gfs cat company, here he is aged 11 wks. He is nearly 1 now and he is awesome, he has his own bed in our house too, no seriously he sleeps on the bed in the spare room. He loves going out and is full of beans and really likes sitting on my knee when im on the comp or watching tv. His name is Buddy

Tigger, got him when I was in primary school, I think he's near 12 now. Lost his tail in an accident, we think he was either kicked or hit by a car. But now hes a dober-cat

No idea if I’ve posted this before, but I found it on the phone, Here’s Murray doing what he does best.

Our other is called Ruby, she was named already as she was 1 year old from rescue (Muzza was a kitten from rescue). He got called Murray, as in Ruby Murray and it stuck. He actually gets called Morris, Munch, Fish face etc etc.

Had a call from CPL people today, home visit on Thursday evening :)

Cat's having vaccination on Friday should have him on the weekend :D

Going to order a scratch post and some other bits, order from anywhere particular or just anywhere really?

Cheers,
Jake
