Show us your kitty cats

Took Ronnie to vet last Friday -he was putting his tounge out and sneezing so we thought grass in throat - Vet looked him over checked teeth and heart rate then took a blood sample which was ok on thyroid and kidneys but slightly up on two of the liver thingies but she put that down to old age said it wasn't serious- Gave him a antibiotic injection and off we went with a note to bring him back today -Heart rate down feels ok but needs two or three teeth out. OK fair enough.
Wife paid £320 for two injections and blood test.
She gave us a guestimate for doing his teeth and looking down his thoat and nose to see if there is any grass. £650.

Are they taking the **** or what.
Our vet was swollowed up by Medivet last year.

Oh and coming home on first trip he did a poo in his carrier box. Stunk car out poor old lad. If he sees me walking toward him he hops it as he thinks he is going in box again.

Poor Ronnie. Your vet is staggeringly expensive. When we took poor Garfield on I only paid £350 for four teeth out, dematting his coat, sort out his cut paw and restart his annual boosters as he hadn't had any for four years.

Bless him :)

We took ours to a local vet a few years back and she spent overnight on a drip and had a few tests.
Next morning to pick her up, the vet quoted around £370
Informed we had insurance and the vet said to leave it with them.
One month later, got the details from the insurer - £850

Thanks for replies - Ronnie is OK - it's just like he had a cough but we think it's probably because he has eaten grass - it's happened before with our other cat -
He does need his teeth cleaning and two pulling out - having that done isn't the problem - we feel the new vet's Medivet are upping the prices as high as they can knowing we all love our pets and will pay anything - I am getting him into Leonards vet's (of TV fame) again and see what their prices are like.
Because Ronnie is a outdoor cat he goes outside for toilet and also trots around some of the house for food. So if we let him out we have no idea when we can get him back in so we want to leave him at vets overnight so he doesn't eat 12hrs before they put him out to do his teeth.
Having pets is really stressfull.

Ronnie has just lost one of his 9 lives -
Wife let him out this morning at 6.00 and by 9.00 no sign of him - This isn't unusual he has been away much longer.
2.30 wife said I am going up ther lane and ten minutes later she rang come and fetch me - So it seems like he has been hit but fortunately looks like a glancing blow. Trying to pick him up was a struggle as all four legs were going with claws out which was a good sign.
Anyway he is now home and I have lit him a fire and he is curled up on mat. The only thing not right is his tail as it's a bit limp but it is hopefully just bruised - he is off to vet on Monday afternoon anyway but if anything looks wrong between now and then it's up to the vets.
Why does it always happen at weekend.

He is about 12 now and has survived the cars-trucks and tractors that use this lane -The tractor drivers are the nutcases -They think they are on a racetrack.

Pumpkin and Autumn are being introduced to "outside"

But are still adept at sitting where they really are in the way

Ronnie is so much better this morning -Wife stayed up all night baby sitting him and I took over at 6.00 this morning -
Sat there having a cuppa and he walks to his bowl and has a bite then shambles off to back door and off he goes (Gingerly) and straight up garden and jumps up fence and over into field - So that was a relief -he went down field -had a poo or wee or both -was too far away to see properly and he saunters back and he is now on bed. Thank you god.
Just take him in tomorrow to have his limp tail looked at - we was wondering why he had been constantly licking it and when he went on wifes lap she could smell pee so we assume he wet himself when it happened.

We took Ronnie to vets on monday to get him checked out after his misshap on saturday morning - Vet gave him a good going over and found a big long scab down his tail and just above that a big absess full of puss. It seems as though he has been fighting but not last saturday as the wound had scabbed over - We still think he was sideswiped by a car or something as he had problems walking on his back legs -Come sunday morning he was ok walking - So we think he has been very lucky.
We left him at vets as he was booked in for tuesday to have two teeth out so they cut fur off his tail and looked at scab and treated the absess.
He does look sorry for himself but when he rubbed his nose up wifes facee she said he was purring like anything.

So far we have had no trouble giving him a antibiotic pill twice a day - I just cut a lump off my sirloin steak (raw) -cut it into bits then pushed a pill inside - along with other bits of meat it went down fine -If he twigs that then it will be mixed in double cream or butter,:)

We use something called easy pill for ours as she has a daily pill
Its a strong liver flavour/smell so masks the tablet
