Show us your kitty cats

Yeah, cats really hate the cone of shame :( I really hope I don't have to use it.

When we had Tiki spayed, we got her a little set of "pyjamas", which didn't seem to bother her too much after the first few minutes of getting used to it; far more comfortable than the cone, and still stopped her pulling at the stitches.

We also picked up a soft(ish) "fabric" cone for Ember after she had her recent operation, and she seemed a lot happier in it - we did keep it off her as much as possible during the day, but had to put it back on at night when we weren't watching.

Cone of Shame, or the Nappy of Shame, it's a moot point. :p

A little scare with Winston as he's not eaten for 2 days and at 18, like with OAPs, you worry about the 'the last fall'. Thermometer up his bum, bit my step father, hissed at the vets - nothing wrong and he's eating tuna but not cat food. Seems that he may have lost his smell for a bit which can put them off food. Seems fine today, good boy Winston.

That's unbelievably nice to hear right now.

My 18 year old hasn't been right for a little while and her eating is way down, not anything in the last day. Just back from the vets with steroids that'll hopefully increase her appetite.

She's lost weight over the last week though and that's never a good sign. Bloods should tell us more tomorrow. :(

Ronnie is the same - It's a week now since we took him to the vet with a bad right ear - Vet cleared out a lot of brown gunge and had a good look and said to wife (I was holding him) look there you can see a cut -looks like a claw so he has been in a fight again and come off worse for ware.
Wed night he was sick -last night he was retching and today he was walking round with his head dropped to the right then he goes out -Look out of the window and there he was jumping all over plants and scouring my lawn.
We just don't know if he really is ill or just a minor wound.
This is the downside of pets -Ronnie must be 10 or more (he walked in and never left) now and they do stress you out.

Back to vets again this morning - he didn't look well last night and had been retching again.
Vet gave him a good look over then had look in his ear - It seems there is a lot of puss right down by the ear drum so Steriods for weekend and back to Vet again Monday morning - Hope this doeasn't turn out to be another Holly - She was our last cat who had ear problems and it was a tumour - If it's the case with Ronnie we will not have the amount of treatment Holly had because it kept her in pain for such a long time. This time we will put Ronnie first.

RIP Bifty :(

Just had to make the hardest decision. My boy had developed a cough and hadn't been himself for the last week. They were going to x-ray and possibly do an endoscope today but the vet felt a mass in his abdomen when I dropped him off this morning. They sedated him and did an ultrasound and found a mass on his liver and in both lungs as well as fluid in his lungs. The humane thing to do was to put him to sleep while he was still sedated. Its broken me to say the actual words though. He really was the most loving cat, always wanted to be around you and always announced himself as soon as he came in. 11 years just doesn't feel like enough time. RIP Bifty.

New kitten(s) have arrived. I was only planning on getting the one but when I turned up to collect him this morning it was just him and his bro left and I couldn't leave his bro on his own. So the kitten I had chosen is properly brave and was exploring the house in no time. His brother is a bit scared and just wanted to hide. They both devoured some Kat Kin and I've put them in my bedroom with some water, kitten biscuits and litter tray and will let them chill for a couple of hours. Our other car saw brave boy though the glass of the front window and seemed very curious, he's been sniffing around now I've let him in and seems keen to meet them but will keep them separate for now so as not to stress the kittens.

So now names, its between Chas and Dave or Starsky and Hutch

Photos will come later for sure

some advise please

This boy came a few weeks back but he's appeared again. Very affectionate handsome boy, even softer than my boy Ron. He's suuuuper skinny, it's all fluff, can feel his bones so I doubt he has a home? Ron doesn't seem to mind him

What's the deal with taking cats to a vet to get checked for microchip?

I vote for Bill and Ben.

Could always ring your local vets/wherever you take Ron etc, see what they say.

If he isn't too stressed about going in a carry box, there'd be no harm in just taking him to get scanned if you suspect he's actually lost/stray/being neglected etc.

Aww. He's lovely!

Just get him in a pet box and take him to the vet. They can scan him and contact his previous owner. Phone them first, though, because sometimes they loan the scanners out.

Alternately, you can buy a scanner from Amazon for a mere £20, which may be less hassle than trying to get him in a pet box. You can always scan him and send the scanner back!!

Check the code here. They will contact the owner.

Either way, he will be with you for a few days at least, so give him lots of nice food.

I am guessing from the notches in his ears that he hasn't been snipped. So maybe he lost his owner a long time ago.

You will have to consider what you want to do if he is not chipped.

He looks amazingly like a cat that goes through my garden. And amazingly like a stray that's around me that has fathered most of the kittens in the area, lol.

He looks young and healthy, but he could certainly do with some food and a good brush.

Seems to me, he is trusting you, and asking for help.

He looks lovely I think you've just got a new cat. I'm envious.
