Christ. Good attitude but that's a lot of money.
*shrugs* I bought it at £2700 under "book" price so I'm still up on the deal. It needed quite a few odds and ends sorting, new throttle cable, fuel lines, filters, alternator, exhaust sections, tyres, expansion bottle, rear differential bushes... I think that's probably about it so far.
The mechanics of the car seem fine, the chassis is in good order and the interior is generally ok, it needs the drivers seat sorting and a new drivers footwell carpet but that's no biggie.
Then it will possibly get a new stereo at some time, and some other bits and pieces.
Owning a car like this means that, unless you're daft, you expect it to break down and potentially cost a lot to fix (although it's amazing how cheap some parts can be if you know where to look, there's a lot of mark up on parts simply because you want them for a TVR. "You need a new window switch for your TVR sir? Certainly, that'll be £14.99 each please" Yeah, or I could buy them from RS components for £2.10 each

) so you simply need to budget for those issues. I spent a lot when I first bought it but I knew they needed doing.
Hopefully from now on, provided I spend a bit on regular maintenance (although after owning classics for years I can do most of the servicing myself, the tappets are supposed to be a bit of a nightmare though) it shouldn't be hugely expensive to run.
