Probably the dullest car in the thread ...

The replacement for my Smart car is an Auris HSD!

Few quick pictures just after picking it up this morning, on the drive back I managed 53mpg cruising at fairly quick motorway speeds. I think 60mpg is entirely possible once I'm used to how to get the best out of the hybrid system. Had to be top spec so it literally has everything - far better than any german equivalents I looked at spec wise.

Think this is the first car I've ever bought that didn't have tyres I immediately wanted to replace with anything other than Linglong or Wanli :)

Let the hate commence! :D

Sorry but what is so good about the spec compared to germans?
I don't see no dual zone climate, heated seats, does yours have the screen build into the mirror for reversing camera?

I would imagine most German cars at that price will either be older / with moon miles, or very very low spec. Remember it's a 61 plate non-diesel...

So, I'm back in England for Christmas and I've been lent this Jeep Grand Cherokee - the 5.7 V8 one.

Have spent most of today driving it about, first impressions are as follows:

Brakes are awful, despite being relatively recent and fitted at a main dealer. Handling is about as bad as I expected, but no worse than the L322 I drove a while back (the L322 was much higher mileage than the Jeep though).

The engine is just fantastic, makes a lovely noise and allows you to move hilariously fast considering the weight of the car. It's definitely quicker than my Jag up to about 80, above that and I reckon my car would have the edge, but as it's not my car I'm not going to be vmaxing it anytime soon.

But of course, a 4x4 is all about going off road, so in the absence of any proper off road tracks we did the next best thing and drove it through a river :p
