Golf 7.5 is peak VW. Why you would bother with the 8 is beyond me. I actually think the 8 looks worse than the 7 too. Looks like an EV.
Couldn't agree more. The mk7 just lacks something, and the mk8 just aint it at all. The 8.5 looks better mind you. But £50k for a decent spec one is crazy money.

Fitted some AP Racing 2pc larger 330mm floating disc along with carbotech XP8 pads and braided lines all around with RBF600 and the brakes are sensation. McLaren stopping power and easily an equal now to my Exige was for repetitive high speed stops cannot wait to get it back on track.

Huge huge confidence in the brakes now absolutely stonking performance especially on a dry day like today and with Cup2 rubber the way this sub 1100kg car stops is mind bending, the de-acceleration is painful but good.

Another epic blast around Wales, huge fun today in this little French rocket ship! :D

Mate in M5 Comp can’t believe just how quick it is especially on tighter b roads easily one of the very best cars made for a British B road!

Do you get much squealing with the brakes with the XP8's?

My XP10's on my Celica are like a freight train when cold but I think I might need better discs and the grooves do not help either. Unfortunately good quality aftermarket discs are a bit hard to come by.

Carbotechs are another level though. I was out breaking VX220's on track with my heavy old beast.

XP8 squeal a little at low speed not obnoxious loud though but not quiet.

I started with braided lines and XP8 front pads, a big step on but the Alpine 320mm stock disc are quite soft and become grumbly with heat and though it stops I wanted more confidence.

The grooved AP 330mm disc are 1.5kg lighter and have a much better pedal and no matter how hot they get and at one point today it felt like I was doing a track day having a very tight b road to myself but no grumbles along with very solid pedal feel and always identical, huge confidence boost but the pads squealed at low speed light braking pressure on both the stock and uprated AP disc.

Hoping for dry weather end of month as at Donington for a track day but even on stock disc I was out braking most stuff but was not as confident as I was on Exige or McLaren brakes but now I feel that confidence is there with APs and for me having brakes I’m confident in is vastly superior to any big power mods.

Where are the AP discs from?

Reyland Motorsport, they have several options I went the AP 330mm floating option with curved grooves, about 1.5kg lighter per disc.

Big improvement and more confident inspiring.

Going completely ot here but are they custom made by Reyland or do they just order them in? I know they do a similar BBK for the GR86 and Reyland are highly regarded. It would be nice if I could get some made up to spec for my other car.

They order in the AP outer disc, but the bell's are custom made to correct offset and fitment for the Alpine.
