At 350Nm it really isn't - it has less torque than a diesel Golf. Seems Acme was actually spot on...

I imagine the torque curve is much wider and flatter than a diesel. Like you always say, it's about how it's delivered...

There is torque across more of the rev range, therefore there is more torque overall. Comparing peak numbers is unhelpful at the best of times when comparing diesel and petrol.

Maybe it's the torque at part throttle that you are made aware of as a strong attribute when using the vehicle..... You know like normal driving. Not really the same as the peak figure of a golf at full throttle.

"This car is really grunty" as you drive around everywhere at full throttle  no

I thought we were discussing whether the torque is "unreal"? You agreed with Acme that the best way to measure it was peak torque.

That came in response to Acme's suggestion - its what triggered it.

Anyone got a torque curve handy? Would be interesting to see.

The later 6.5 litre version does indeed look like an undisputed torque monster!

It won't just be peak engine torque though, there is also the multiplication from the gearing. Given the low top speed I'd probably say it's mostly gearing.

Perhaps but ACME didn't say that. Look again at what he said and explain which part wasn't true?

Would like to think I could be botheredto, but I've simply posted my opinion on the discussion and that's all I see in terms of my effort,

Drove up to Oban last night and thought my car looked nice in the sunset.
Followed by a drive back down to Glasgow via Glencoe.

It's not the worst looking Vauxhall in the world!

I love Glencoe but it's a bit of a detour when heading to Glasgow from Oban. The road further on is beautiful too, can see the road for miles.

The pictures at the house show the view of connell bridge which happens to be the view from her room/living room.

You can understand why she doesn't fancy moving back near Glasgow haha.
