Show Us Your Motors!

Been a while since I've posted. Here's the current fleet...

The same ZT-T I've had for years now (shocker) - a 2003 ZT-T CDTi Automatic, for when I'm lazy.
The ZS180 is relatively new - 2.5 V6, and goes pretty well - truth be told, I saved it from being scrapped but it was too good to sell on. Plus insurance is less than £200, so may as well have it for when I fancy chucking something about.
Goes pretty well, sounds lovely (has a stainless steel backbox, and a few other bits and pieces) and still manages around 28MPG.

Sadly the red 75 in the background is being broken for spares - a shame as it has a lovely interior. It just needs a lot of work (engine issues, suspension issues, the list is quite long) and I don't have the time. :(

For a Rover, they did OK on the interior I think!

More boring Rovers, nothing to see here... ;)

Had my factory JCW for coming up to a year now and it's been faultless.

Made a few changes along the way like my previous Mini. Full wheel refurbishment of the alloys by Pristine Wheels, back to silver with added sparkle! So much better than the original black it came with. Runflats were taken off and sold and Goodyear AS2 were put on - much better!

Headlight, tail light rings and mirror caps have been colour coded rather than chrome.

The rear diffuser from the GP2 model has been added. It does actually meet up to the flat floor running along the bottom of the car. Although I doubt it makes much difference, it can't make it worse and I like the look!

Engine wise, a decoke of the inlet valves was done. This is a common problem with direct injection engines. Finally a Manic Motorsport remap along with Forge intercooler was added to bring this to 226whp which is around 260bhp.

15mph bump causes €2000 worth of damage on a €3000 car. FML.

Bumper, grill, headlight, inner bumper, etc etc.

I bet that's fun to drive. :D

It is! It's quick enough, and with a bit of torque steer, it's like it's try to get away from you!! Pops and bangs from the exhaust between gear changes and overrun too, so it's fun when not going fast.

Really liking that Mike, nice mods :)

I like it too, if someone asked me if I would ever own a mini. I would pretty much show them Mike's pictures of his Mini.

Lol...

Bumper from eBay £50

Grille from eBay £25

Fix headlight bracket with epoxy resin.

Done.

When I had my prang I had to replace:

Bumper
Slam
Wing
Bonnet
Radiator
Radiator fan
Wishbone
Front exhaust section
Sump pan
Headlight

And more. It cost me £400 to fix it myself, including labour to straighten and weld the inner wing.

Good for you. I have neither the tools nor the space to carry out the work.
The inner bumper(?) and crash structure that everything's bolted onto is also cracked in numerous places.

I'm not driving around with an ill-fitting eBay special bumper that doesn't match the bodywork.

Never the less using 2nd hand genuine parts you can have that all fixed for a quarter of what your quoting (Add a few £££ for labour at a body shop). As you rightly point out its not worth that much there is no point spending 2/3 of the value buying brand new OE parts. At least I don't think so anyway, its your car after all!

Kind Regards

Alec

When my MR2 was vandalised (much more damage than yours) I thought I wouldn't stand a chance of being able to repair it myself. In reality, it was actually very easy - everything unscrews/unclips, and if you happen to break a clip you can get a massive pack of them for under £5, especially for a car as common as the Passat.

I did it outside the front of my house using a socket set which I borrowed, and a couple of spanners? :p

The bumper and wings fit just as well as the original ones, and they are the same colour?

But yes, you could easily fix that even when factoring in labour for a fraction of what you quoted. Why get brand new genuine parts for an old Passat? It is simply not worth it! :p

The slam panel would be another £50 perhaps.

Yes I see your point, but I don't have the time unfortunately. Baby due any minute now and I'll be going back to work soon as well.

Just priced up the major parts (pattern parts) and it came to £500.
Sure, a lot less than the bodyshop quote, but i'd still need labour for some things on top.
The car's mint otherwise, just spent a lot on repairs and a major service.

I'll try and flog it as is, see what happens..

Popped out for a quick morning drive.

A lovely morning for it.
Killed a rabbit though, darted out just in front of me. Poor sod :(

Recently I put a deposit down on yet another horrendously overpriced, small, averagely built Fiat. A 595 competizione to be exact, and damn am I excited! This one has a bigger turbo from factory (180 bhp, 250nm) xenons, sabelt seats, Koni FSD shocks, big brembo brakes, a stainless steel exhaust...and all sorts of other silly toys. Its a demo car so currently waiting for it to be released next week.

Snap!

My sister in law has one too. She changed her wheels, used to have the cross spokes.
