After getting the thermostat housing repaired (hairline crack leading to leak), I drove it for about five minutes when I noticed that the engine temperature was getting suspiciously high, a few moments later it shot into the red zone. Needless to say I was worried that it was bye bye time!

Pulled over and got it towed back to the garage, they hadn't bled the system properly, now it's been done and it's running well.

The water temperature gauge on the E46 is extremely inaccurate. Whatever is classed as "operating temperature" and the needle will sit in the center, however go 1 degree over that and you're into the red zone, there's no sliding scale.

So true, the rule is if its odd dead centre then there is a problem. Never run it off centre, these heads can cook quickly.

2.0 FSi, 148hp is it?

Yeah overall its pretty tidy. I think where the last owner lived everyone had no spacial awareness as few parking grazes to deal with and one larger one. Interior is spot on though :)

Our thoughts were with the good history and rather low mileage we could deal with a few little bodywork bits to sort out.

Still a great looking car. Interior looks nice. How much did u get it for? A guy I work with picked one up for a couple grand and its a lot of car for the money! A big comfy quality barge :D

Paid £2000, but comes with full service history and plenty of toys. It's one of the most comfortable and smooth cars that I've drove.
