Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that the styling changes on the new A4 are drastic over mine, but the way you set your previous post out, you made it sound like the new Astra was a massive leap from the old one aesthetically (given you replied to a comment about how they look, bland).

The fact that it still looks like an previous-gen, facelifted Astra means that the "bland" comment still rings true.

Styling is subjective and I was mainly suggesting that grudas hadnt seen the new model yet (which isnt surprising as there's only a few on the roads at the moment).

Also, a new model with the same name still needs to be recognised as what it is. The real developments are underneath, and that's really what matters.

Plus not changing things radically improves residuals for the outgoing model which reduces the cost of financing new models.

Mercedes annoyed a LOT of the US market E Class fanatics when the facelift W212 E Class turned up looking almost like an all-new car.

So this has been mine for the day for an extended test drive.

After the novelty of pointing and squirting the throttle had worn off it's just a very normal car and I feel it's far too fast to get any enjoyment out of it. Was actually looking forward to driving my Type R again.

The DSG gearbox is fantastic though and I absolutely love that fart on upshifts! :D

As a normal car for the missus it would do a great job.

What is it, an R? Looks like nothing special at all. Got to say, the wagon body seems out of proportion with the front end, doesn't look quite right.
