Haha, well, its a nice little turbo engine, really easy to tune it seems as its so restricted as standard to meet the Kei requirements. The little top mount intercooler might have to go, but its meant to be good for 100hp or so

What car is that? 5th gen Alto Works at a guess?

Is the latest JCW Mini any good?

Reviews say yes. It's a little heavier, little better for use everyday than the one before it, controls are less out-there so the windows are controlled on the door and the brakes are supposedly a bit lacking when pushing on. Makes a good noise though, especially with the JCW Pro exhaust. Also, the variable dampers aren't really necessary as the standard setup does a good job of all round setup, where sport is too hard for fast road, so only comfort would really be selected.

I can confirm it's a good laugh. Lacks the turn of pace of a Golf R (let alone the faster hatches), and the pro exhaust sounds excellent, the Bluetooth switch for the exhaust says it isn't road legal! I keep it on anyway. :p It's plenty quick enough though, more usable power than a ballistic A45.

This one is over £30k with options (not including the exhaust), seems too much money. I wouldn't say it's extravagant either.

Not another test-drive Robbo, I'm surprised you're not on every local dealers time waster leader board by now :D

It's a thing Mini quite happily offer, apparently.

Very nice car, but you'd have to skimp on options as £30k for a Mini (that isn't as quick as most 3 litre diesels) seems a bit much.

Yeah I agree. The options are a joke. I recently bought a Cooper S (Pics coming soon) to replace my Golf and ended up getting some exterior stuff and the Harman/Kardon sound system and that was it. The rest is pretty pointless and more of a convenience than anything else, other stuff should really be no extra charge (Changing the colour of interior trim/roof from white to black as an example).

Been looking at an after market tune for it. Some remaps are pushing this engine to 290 BHP  There are others though that are "plug n play" type systems that bump it up to 240 BHP, and apparently can be easily removed in a few minutes if warranty is a concern.

Track mode. :D:cool:

The options list quickly makes these expensive. HK stereo, Leather seats and Media pack would be the main things I'd spec.
