Show Us Your Motors!

He seems to be on that hype again doesn't he. He must have driven some amazing cars to determine just how terrible my little Astra is! I would love to drive his Octavia, you know, just for the lulz :) If anything Acme, I preferred the drive of my Astra H Turbo I had which was on cheap coilovers to my Focus ST on Eibach springs and Powerflex front Polybushes which felt a bit like a boat in comparison!

In the last 3 years for whoever asked, I've had... 8 cars.

The Octavia is almost certainly far worse to drive than your Astra is, in all sorts of ways! I wasn't suggesting that it isn't! :)

But an EP3 to an Astra = :(

I've driven a fair few cars now in fairness. The Astra was worse to drive than any of the other hatches I test drove, bar the Corolla..... Which is the one I bought.... Because of the noise. :D

Do you not read anything I write.

EP3 to detached house is far, far better.

Astra = cheap cheerful drives decent reliable car whilst we settle then I jump in something new with warranty in 12-18 months :)

I actually like my Astra, had it 4 years now and apart from service, MOT and the usual insurance etc it's cost me nothing.

Does the job well and is reliable, nothing else is needed. Well apart from more power :)

I am as I am sure everyone knows no Astra fan but it's hard to get annoyed at that for 1700 quid. It looks tidy, modern and presentable and I'm struggling to think of a considerably better all round option for the same money.

Evening chaps, not had time to come on for a while as mega busy.

So, I sold my EP3, it became a money pit and refused to play ball. Those who remember my steering issue, erm... well all CV joints were re-greased and it seemed to work for long enough to get it sold! Odd. Alas, I sold that for £2600 with 3 weeks MOT left and 2 bald tyres. A good result but didn't quite cover my loss! I am mega busy so I couldn't do with a car needing attention all the time as of late, so wanted a really normal boring cheap car I could just get in and go, no major common issues, cheap to run and fix... so I bought the spawn of the devil for £1700. And, I am very happy believe it or not :) New tyres, brakes, clutch, battery, serviced, 10 months MOT etc etc, it's a 1.8 SRi
Astra looks good for 1.7k  as u say much better and fresher looking than most other hatchbacks of that price and age.
Where do you find these buyers to get top money for your cars? Lol. I've got my ST for sale again with 12 months MOT and keep getting stupid 4K offers and very little interest. When it sells I'm probably just going to get a runaround that can't throw up any big repair bills.

I have considered a career change into car sales :D I must have the gift of the gab, but ultimately it's because I've spent a shedload backed up with receipts so they don't have to! So I always lose more than the high sell prices suggest haha.

But yep as per those who've said, exact same thought train from me, not in need of a hot hatch, just cheap and reliable and still quite modern looking so this fitted the bill well for the money. It's not perfect but it's more than presentable. I'm very pleased :)

PS: fact of the night - I've had 5 Astra's :o

Thats quite generous. :p

Sorry for being overly critical, its a better car than my Skoda is at the moment for sure.

Should have popped in to say hi!

I forget you're a local! I must drive passed your house quite often as the route between The Woodman and The Star is rapidly becoming one of my preferred driving roads near me. I'll keep an eye out for the Zed and wave next time I pass by :)

Came with black front grill from the previous owner but I also have the original grills in the boot. Will give them a clean up and might swap them back at some point.
