Show Us Your Motors!

Not been on here for a while - the project house has been crazy and work equally busy resulting in my not spending much time at home, or infront of a computer! (well for fun anyway!)

Sold the 350Z last week - It wasn't getting a huge amount of use and wasn't quite what I wanted. It is a great 'GT' but not the last word in enjoyment (engine note excluded). So what did I buy ... #becauseMX5

Its a 2011 Sport Tech, folding hardtop (I can't bare to put the roof up, even in this weather!) so far the mods have included me buying a wooly hat! Absolutely standard currently with ~49k and two owners, one of which owned it for 3 years and did 4k in it, the next one doing 17k a year!

I was concerned I was going to miss the 350Z mainly in the power department, but its been on two hoons already over the weekend and I absolutely love it! I've driven a few MX5s over the years, including Howard's supercharged Mk1 and there really is just something about them. Also in this greasy weather it is extremely tail happy - amazingly it came with a full set of nearly new Avons - which is a good sign towards maintenance. I am going to look into the Super200 conversion but that wont' be for a little while!

More worryingly - the Mrs quite likes it too!

Cleaned it yesterday as it was absolutely filthy after a few motorway slogs and a bit of light off-roading down the in-laws flooded "driveway" . Just a wash, didn't have the time nor inclination to polish and wax

Really need an MX5 in my life at some point.

Yup - I had the same issue. I was looking at a lot of (far more powerful/expensive) cars than the MX-5 to replace the 350Z, but kept coming back to them time and time again and figured - screw it! Even if I run it for 6 months and get rid at least I'll have scratched that itch. That said after 3 days of ownership it is rapidly becoming one of the favourite cars I've ever owned!

What is that and where is the GTV???!

It's gone, I'm sorry :(

Looks great, although I still miss the GTV. Made a lovely noise when you took me out in it. The Mazda is probably a better car in every other way though :p

Exactly this.

With the exception of the way it looks also!

And this :p

unrealrocks, MX5 friends :D:p How much did you pay, roughly (out of interest)? Mine's at 40k with 1 owner but is slightly older so it'd be interesting to see whether I've been ripped off or not :p Feel free to trust me if you'd rather not say on here.

Paid just under 8k (really have no worries about it being private, lol) from a car supermarket - not the usual place I buy from but they get great reviews and to be honest they really were decent. I normally either buy from a dealership or eBay! Looking around that seemed to be about the going rate and couldn't find one at a better price.

Good to hear. Mine was 8k from a dealer so seems as though that's the going rate.

I keep being told I'm mad from having the roof down 90% of the time :p

Posted in the ST thread but two and a half years with this and it's still awesome. Love it. Surprised with how much details is in the shadows when shooting the iPhone in RAW.
