Show Us Your Motors!

Not a fan of the 'scene' look on MX-5s - or any car for that matter. Basically just ruins the essence of the car!

Why would you rip out A/C? Especially if it's rare.

Are you going to put stickers on it?

Yes the numberplate did come off of the die cast model. :p

I discovered that the AC doesn't work because it doesn't have an AC condenser anymore.

Think there might be an exhaust leak from the manifold area because theres a strong smell of fumes in the cabin with the windows down, but not with the windows up and the fan on.

Its not in great condition cosmetically, particularly on the rear quarters, but I kinda like it that way...

Also I'm not sure if the Mazdaspeed suspension is height adjustable, might only be damping adjustable. So the rubbing issue which I thought would be so easily solvable by "winding it up a bit" might not be so easy!

I do really like it though...

Oh I discovered the reason for the rubbing. The damper in that corner is different to the other three... Three of them are Mazdaspeed adjustable damping ones, and that one is yellow like the other three, but thats the end of the similarities...

I have Acme'd a little bit with this purchase I think. But I don't think it was the guy I bought it from who did it, so... :p

Told you that it was going to be a mistake

Its fine....... I have a replacement damper with very similar mileage on it on its way to me now. :p

The folks on MX5Nutz never cease to amaze me. :)

The guy with my red one just messaged me a bit disgruntled saying that I could have told him the clutch was slipping... It wasn't. And also that I could have told him that it was rusty underneath. I did.

I wanted to reply saying "You could have told me that one of the dampers was wrong and loads of the electrics have gone all wonky" but I resisted the urge. :p

Oh he swapped it? Acme, what was the reason for the swap?
Swapped and gave cash on top. Various reasons.

MK2 was rotten, this MK1 isn't.
MK2 needed a clutch and various bits soon. MK1 has had those bits done recently with documented proof.
MK2 was stock and the mods I wanted to do to it would have cost a lot. MK1 already has lots of mods on it, including some which would have been so costly that I wouldn't have done them anyway.
Since buying a MK2 I have always wished I'd got a MK1, whenever I saw one I regretted getting a MK2.
The MK1 is JDM, which I find cool. Fight me! Has lots of little JDM quirks. :p
Yea, that always a plus
It is quite common for MX5's (particularly MK1's) to be a bit rough and ready. People like rattle canning them, tacking wide arches and things on, and doing crazy stuff to them. I wanted to do that stuff to my MK2 but it was in such good nick that I would have felt guilty. This one is tatty, I can do that stuff... I can sand the rear quarters and rattle can them black again (current finish is really bad) and so on.

Probably not your thing at all, which I can entirely appreciate. :)

Maybe I can drift stitch it somewhen too! ;)
