S3 Exige plus F01 730d (they're getting ridiculously cheap now) is pretty much the perfect 2 car garage. Go on Callum, you know it makes sense..... :p

It's pretty amazing how much car you can get for the money there! Not sure a >100k mile 7 series makes any kind of sense though! I imagine repair bills on the smallest items might become eye watering!

trying to persuade Vox of the merits of an S3 400+bhp Exige (plus barge) but he's having none of it....

So my experience of Lotus has been ****

I went to their website and requested contact from a dealer and a test drive of 2 types of car from their range. After coming back from the Ring I decided something with a more track focused approach that didn't carry a GT3 tax would be worthy of strong consideration. That was weeks ago and since then I have chased and tweeted (I think 4 times) and silence is all I have. Sure, I could pick up the phone and will do, but it REALLY annoys me when manufacturers create a communication process and then fail to service it.

People have told me that is just part of the Lotus life, Lotus are useless but to me that really puts me off.

I'm getting more and more disheartened with the motor trade in this country as a whole. They're utter crap. Utter utter crap.

Mine is in for the 5th time for the same issue, I've escalated it, got asked to take it to a different garage who couldn't even find the problem nevermind diagnose it! So that's 1 garage who can find the fault but not what's causing it - 3 times. Another that can't even find the fault.

We had a nightmare with the gf's Mini which still isn't over and looking like it's going to go down the legal route.

Could pick up a nice one on 60-70k miles with FBMWSH for not that much. They're common cars and well known on forums now (particularly in the US) which makes troubleshooting and repairing issues a lot easier.

Apart from properly specialist stuff like Bentleys and Maseratis, older luxury cars are really not that bad running cost wise provided you don't just drive into the main dealer and say "fix it". Unfortunately they're often bought by people who just look at the cheap sticker price, don't do any research on common issues, put it in the main dealer when it breaks and then moan on forums about how expensive the car is to run.

Nobody wants such a big car, that's why.

Mine on a recent holiday where we popped along the Stelvio Pass. Fairly surprised to meet a cement mixer coming the other way shortly after this photo was taken though...

Beautiful weather, sadly when I went to the Stelvio in May it was quite grey and cloudy, didn't look anywhere near as beautiful as that!

Took it to Autobrite last month for a valet and their new supersonic sealant to be applied which really brings the flake out the paint work. Paint is still spot on too, still no need for a paint correction, very happy with results, some photos they took:

I thought you knew about drag racing? Many of the more serious cars have portable fans that they use after each run. Sticking the bonnet up on a 700 bhp car seems totally proportional and appropriate to me.

Haha my second time. Not a bad shout tbh. Might consider

@Gibbo... My Charger likes to eat Mustangs... shame I'm not in the UK :) Nice car. I bet she turns some heads being in England

Yeah I thought it would have died down now as there is a lot of Mustangs in the UK now, but every day I still see other road users and pedestrians taking out phones to take photos/videos and still generates conversation with randoms on a regular basis. My mates yellow one its like driving a super car but something more in your face like an old school lambo as it makes grown men get excited like little boys. Your charger would probably have a good fight with my pals yellow one as its 850HP now and weighs 1700kg, having driven it I can say I've driven nothing faster, its useless in the wet though haha, he only brings it out in dry as it wearing cup 2 tyres now, handling for such power is fantastic, its got the 350R brakes, so stops well too.

This one is going in 6 months as I've ordered the new MY18 in orange, 10-speed, mag ride, going to order 350R brakes for it, put it on a diet and aim for 600HP NA which with the 10-speed will be plenty fast enough. But being orange will get more attention and probably have to get used to the you've being tango'd comments. :D
