And yet it still develops 300bhp, which seems entirely enough for a car of this type.

It's a modern version of the sort of thing you yourself drive - yet it offers more power, more performance, more efficiency and lower emissions.

Lets be thankful it even exists in this climate.

I'm not a fan of 4 cylinder engines but this is a range where there are 6 and 8 cylinder options too. What harm is choice?

there's no harm I agree but it's a bit like the 4 pot mustang :) the engine might be powerful but I feel like it wont suit the character of the car.

it should be fine once the turbos spool up but I still think it'd be a bit dead compared to v6/8
I love the feeling when the turbo kicks in, not the smooth linear feeling you get with new cars. But 90's Jap cars with 400bhp+, blow valves noises choo choo skrrrrt :D

V6/8 would be much better, it's not exactly a car for someone who can't afford to maintain a V6 or V8. So don't see much point in that option, just get an RS if you want more economy/reliability.

Power isn't everything, what about the torque? You can't exactly do wonders with a lower cc engine, or can you?

Its in the article. The 2.0 Turbo produces 300lbft @ 1500rpm compared to 330lbft @ 3500rpm from the V6s. For your non enthusiast F-Type buyer the 2.0 makes perfect sense

Picked up this at 8:15am today.

Looks great! But I have to say, the idea of having a whole presentation/unveiling ceremony when picking up a new car makes me cringe. Just let me sign the paperwork, chuck me the keys and I'll be on my way.

I know, I hate being the centre of attention with stuff like this etc, they asked if I minded having the photo done for their facebook page, it was the first 370z nismo this dealership had ever sold. So they wanted a few pictures to mark the occasion on their facebook etc. I did it because the sales man I'd dealt with all the way through was pretty good.

Ace Modder S-o-T Nissan dealer? If so i'll keep an eye out for the car.
Yes. I live in Newcastle-under-Lyme. The car will be around Necastle more than SOT

Looks good, did they beg you for that picture? :D I wonder if they would do it, if they sold more 370z Nismo's or is this a thing Nissan dealerships do due to buying a car from the Nismo line?

You could even argue the opposite: the 2.0 is for the man who actually enjoys driving, rather than just pointing and squirting. It's the better driver's car.

Here's Dan Trent to explain why:

I'd come to that conclusion already. Broader torque band, less weight where it really matters, and ultimately an exhaust and tune is still going to cost less than the difference between the 4 cylinder and the V6 and produce more power and torque than the V6 does.

Pretty smart move from Jaguar considering

Yes they asked if i would pose for a photo for their facebook page.

Lol. So a Cayman / any hatchback is ruined because it has a 4 cylinder, yet the F-Type somehow gets declared "better". What a load of nonsense.

They're either all better or all worse. You can't have it both ways.

As said in the video. The main thing about the engine changes is the noise and emotional experience.

The Porsche 4cylinder makes them sound like an Impreza. But it seems like the jag 4 actually sounds pretty decent.
