Really like the CR-Z. Bargain now too. I thought the interior was really good - the controls are nice, the instruments really clear and the driving position is excellent - can get the seat into a perfect position, much like a MINI. Better than any of the BMWs I've driven/owned which are always sitting you too high and don't go back far enough. I nearly bought a CR-Z after my first Z4, but I couldn't justify at the £8-10k they were at the time. Wouldn't hesitate at £4k.

Not sure what BMWs you've had but I don't have that problem and the front seats do all sorts with the five manual controls ;)

People who know nothing about cars maybe who just arrive at the garage and say 4 tyres mate. This is a mass produced hatch, not every person buying a car understands a car or really cares. Its not being driven hard, spent most of its life going up and down the motorway. Second owner has not really use it all, did a road trip in it to Europe which finished the brakes of no doubt and its being sitting in his garage for months not being used apart from odd weekend out and he was same, just enjoys driving but has no understanding of tyres etc, he just puts fuel in and checks oil.

The brakes work, the front disc have gone, massive lip on them and a lot of deposits and scoring. Grabbed myself brakes all round for it for £100, mate has done RS5 brake conversion on his and so he took his off which have less than 1000 miles and is letting me have for a ton. A set of PS4 all round are £550 and I am getting the DSG service done early (£160) and Haldex service (£70) just to not get any nasty surprises, its just had a major service so all good. :)

Oh and its mapped too, saves me the cost, nice little rocket. :D
What's the mapped power?

How reliable has the Volvo been? The thought of a comfy barge to sit in traffic with seems like bliss but thats all it with ever do is sit in traffic so its a petrol I would need. I like the look of that model too. A few of times a year it would go on trips around the UK.

Like @rodendal says, it isn't barge like. The boot is adequate but it's on the smaller size for estates. V70 boots are huge, however, I wanted the T5 engine (there wasn't any V70 t5 around when I purchased) . Reliability for me has been great, it's my 3rd volvo and really haven't ever had an issue with any of them. I hear the s40/v50 can suffer with electrical issues though.

The 2.4i is not much better MPG and a lot less power than the 2.5 T5. The diesel D5 are apparently alright, but of course suffer usual diesel problems. Absolutely avoid the 1.6 Diesel.

Personally, I'd be looking at the newer volvos if I were looking now. The V90 looks mammoth and the xc60 and v60 are nice.

Ah OK, thanks for the info. V70 is a bit too big, I'm looking at estates but doesn't need to be a monster, something between 500/550 litres with seats up is fine but definitely looking for something more frugal than that. Probably shouldn't of used the term "barge" as I've confused myself and others :o

Current favourites are Fabia and Auris Estates and they are far from Barge like
