V5 and R32 were about the best two "old" golfs imo. GT TDi was good, but not a fan of derv. The actual "Gti" was pretty pants imo

Yeah its a great engine , instant response - powerful enough to get the job done, and fairly sensible economy (providing i keep the Air-con turned off!)

3 years down the line and still no other equivalent car i'd rather have.

yup - thats the layout, basically a V6 with 1 cylinder lopped off, 3 on one side, 2 on the other (actually its only just a V, the cylinders are almost all in-line)

Imo the V6 4 motion wasn't that great. Priced between the V5 and R32, but performance imo wasn't a high enough increase to justify the extra price.

Clone it. Stick your plates on a similar car. Who gets their speeding tickets? Not very likely, but it only takes a few seconds to remove them.
