Show Us Your Motors!

My friend was a good passenger actually, I am not sure I would have been relaxed as he was had the situation been reversed. He has experience of big speed on roads, but not at this level and I think it opened eyes. The thing that always gets me is when a police car comes into site on an autobahn, you still feel yourself covering the brakes and slowing down. Programmed.

You could still be pulled over if your speed is deemed to be inappropriate though I'm sure. That said, they'd have to catch you first. :D

Very true but at these speeds it takes planning and caution. Very different to getting away from the lights or even on a runway as you have to build up to these speeds over many miles, it's very different to how many people might imagine. Rare you can pull out a slip road and nail it to 200mph. Bit of go, slow, go, slow and then nail it when the road/traffic allows. They have some proper bends too which at 100mph are zero issue but at over 180mph are serious. Sighting is in miles not a couple of hundred feet at such pace.

I was genuinely surprised at how difficult it was- in my experience there’s very few roads anywhere that are good for much over 150. Best I ever managed was 185MPH but that was at about 5AM with literally nobody on the roads. I just don’t have the balls to pass any car at all at those speeds.

I feel small now. Best I ever managed was an indicated 160 on the autobahn. While it was comfortable in my Saab it was scary taking corners with worn out rear shocks at that speed.

Well, at the end of August the engine on my 208GTI died. As much as I loved the car I've now moved on to new and better things.

Enjoying it muchly!

Edit - I think i fail at uploading picas?!

@Lima Click the button that looks like an image (between the smiley face and the video film) and paste the direct link.

Or put the direct link between tags.

Host it on Imgur/Photobucket/something like that. :)

If that is the current Type R then it's one of the most impressive cars I have driven in many years.

From A to B in dry conditions on a tight twisty road, about as quick as you can get.

I love the crazy of the current CTR but I just can't get past the fake grilles at the back. They look awful.
Eck of a machine though.

Yup. Nearly as current as it gets. March 18 plate. Ex demo 2,700 miles.

I absolutely love it. I can understand the love/ hate looks as demonstrated in Rilot grille post above, but in all honesty the car is striking. The amount of attention it gets is unreal and usually very much for the positive/ complimentary.

The looks for me (at my age) are it's the weakest point but subjective. But when you drive the thing it all makes sense. They have absolutely nailed the driving experience and I can see why it is winning so many plaudits. It is a super hot hatch that makes a Golf R feel like a 1.4 GL. The front end of the car is magnificent and it pivots so well with progressive lift off oversteer that (in my brief experience) is great fun to exploit. I took it down some country lanes on my test drive and when we got back the young sales guy was all excitable and shouting "you need to go out with him in that thing". The fact I could make him say that after 20 minutes says a lot about how confidence inspiring the car is.

Envious even with my car history so enjoy it ye **** :D

I like it, a lot. It looks menacing ! It’d suit some bronze or anthracite alloys (the black ones are nice regardless though)

Much better styling than the model previous. :)

I really dislike the shape pictured, the exhaust it maybe the reason why although as above you cannot knock the drive.

I really fancy a FK2 for a bit of daily fun

I love my Honda's and the current Type-R intrigues me. I'd love to be in a position to own one of the boot and space is as good as my Type-S. Seems like the perfect real-world daily/hoon car.

I'd look to tone down the looks using parts from the regular models however some of it is deemed functional isn't it? Would de-value it considerably mind you.

Working hard to get back into a position where I can own interesting cars again. Enjoy it!
