Show Us Your Motors!

Looking back at receipts.. in 2013 guy bought it for 9k with 21k miles from a Honda dealer! Should've bought one sooner!

Guess he also covered the cost of most of the mods in the £15k. I think it looks great and has a nice spec but £15k would have me looking at Pork (and that's coming from someone who does like Jap cars).

No the guy I bought it from had it since 2017 and paid 13k for it.

Basically I wanted a step up from my MX-5 so options were -;

350z - too fat/too gt
Z4m - didn't want another z4
Cayman - again bit too fat "wants to do it all" car just didn't feel right.
Gt86 - felt like it'll lack drama/excitement as standard
bbr NC - nc great, similar money and will depreciate
Nd - too slow as standard and will depreciate silly amount, plus for 15k I'd be looking at '15 2.0

So that basically left s2000 and that ticked all the boxes. I'm super happy with it and got a well sorted car with a box of standard parts.

Fair enough :) if prices continue to grow in the same way it'll be worth £20k when you come to sell :p

To be fair I will be happy if I lose no money over 2-3 years! Ownership with no depreciation would be great! Did that with my z4 coupe so hoping the same will happen with the s2000.

Surprised you didnt have an RX7 on your list if you wanted a step up from the MX5. For the same price:

Ooft! Yes, nice colour too eh @grudas ;)

Passed a mint looking stock red one on the M25 earlier. Lovely.

S2000 with all the bits his has on it will be the better car though I imagine. If you don't factor in coolness/rarity/investment potential. Definitely better in terms of comforts, reliability, fuel economy.

Haha yes! There's a red one driving around my area too, they look great!

S2000 will be a more reliable and better car for my use tho :)

The wheels are standard on the MY18 245 edition, which also came in a limited colour selection of white, black, red or grey. I definitely didn't want another black one and between the rest I wasn't really picky between them. I quite like the colour and the wheels to be honest but well aware neither are acceptable on here :p

Went back today :

Evoque HSE dynamic D180 with glass roof, great car and really rate them for doing everything well, despite thinking it was a soccer mum car. Now a proper SUV convert for day to day/ family stuff. Feels like a car to drive and not wallowy, up to 8/10th anyway. The 9sp ZF is nice too once you learn how to drive it (is a bit keen to go up the gears)

I’ve done 11,000 miles and it didn’t break down once.

15k is 987 Boxster S territory. The S2000 is indefinitely the one you buy with your heart and even though 987 Boxster S is better on paper. There is a lot more to owning a car than stats. Plus you will not lose a penny on the S2000.

Whilst it is a great looking example of an S2000, I don’t think any car is depreciation proof at this point in time. Especially modified ones. But I doubt that’s why he bought it.

The rapid change in values of lots of cars over recent years is exactly why people should be cautious, not bowling in head first. I bought a 2004 S2000 for £4800 four years ago, it was no where near as nice as the one above but illustrates where these were. Current pricing is unlikely to climb higher.

Anyway, just enjoy and it drive it!

That's pretty much it! You can go by stats and specs and 987 would come out as a better car but s2000 for me personally is the better car. Any boxster leaves me cold for some reason.

My MX-5 on the other hand got a little feature in fast car!

that s2000 is lovely Grudas, welcome to the s2000 club.

really need to send my steering wheel off and get him to retrim mine, looks a lot better.

what made you want 04-06 rather than the later models?

Thanks! Yeah it was done at royal :) was retrimmed and reshaped.

I wanted the facelift headlights/taillights and interior touches but didn't want the higher tax band. So 04-06 made the most sense.
