Cheapness. Cheapest V50/S40 is twice as much, and I don't like them. Whilst I do like the earlier V70 and the late 850 the cheapest one of those is twice as much as well.

Dude you can pick up P80 T5s (inc C/S/V70s and 850 estates and saloons) for around a grand with no issues, £1500 for a manual. Get on VolvoTuning.net or Volvo Owners UK. Okay, its double that for one in excellent nick but that's clearly not something you particularly car about. Unless prices have rocketed in the last 6-12 months since I bought mine - in which case wiiieeeeee!

Fun fact about the spaceball gearstick, it's very desirable and you can flog it for £100-150 depending on condition.

I can't see the point in tuning up old tired cars when it's a daily driver. It will quickly discover any faults and make some new ones.

You say that but I got a 2002 Volvo T4 with 130k on the clock for a grand in 2012, ran it for a few years standard, then fitted an intercooler, a second hand 19T from a Volvo T5 with a modified flange and had it mapped to the best part of 300bhp and it got driven hard daily, it was tremendous fun and completely reliable :D

Decided I'd take it to near 400bhp, got the engine rebuilt with forged internals and 6 months later it got rear ended and written off :(

Replaced it with a newer S40 T5, full Volvo service history, auto xenon headlights, auto rain wipers, Dolby Pro Logic II sound system, heated leather seats, bluetooth/phone, electric drivers seat etc.....All for £1900. Had it 2 years now and will start making this one a bit more lively soon :)

I think I just accidentally all over my desk at that machining.

Both great to look at and use. I've test driven a couple 350s now. And I think theyre amazing. The only issue I've had is rev matching... Pedals felt a little too close together. And the throttle response wasnt always consistent. When attempting rev matching.

Clicking through the gears felt so satifying!

After 5 years of company cars, I finally own my own car again and it feels good. Its a C250D AMG Line Premium Plus if anyone is interested. Really like the colour too, although I do not think its everyones cup of tea. Under 50k miles on the clock and I got it for a steal of a price too.
