Nice! Are those split three spoke wheels Advans?
Love it, tidy SW20 and it sits perfectly on those wheels. Always wanted one when I was younger, they must be coming to the stage where good ones are increasing in value now?
Block mods for 2.4 and 2.5 are shimming and/or new liners. 2.3, 2.4 and 2.5 also tend to need to go closed deck for big numbers and that's something both the above will do.
Also @Acme, you won't see 300bhp from any T5 with just a remap![]()

It has a K04 with an FMIC, I don't know anything other than that.
Its 250HP in standard form and Volvo tuning specialists would seem to disagree, at least Shem from Shemtek does, if the engine/turbo etc are in good order.
Having read numerous threads on modifying T4's and T5's over the last 10 years and experiencing it on my own, there have been many that think they're getting 300bhp from a remap but when put on a dyno, they simply aren't. Celtic Tuning are by far the worst for this and quite often quote figures that are unsafe without supporting mods.
You'll need at least an exhaust and intercooler to get there. Happy to be proven wrong but after chatting with Tim about this a few years back I was lead to believe you won't see 300 on just a remap![]()
@Acme Tim williams in coalville knows a thing about Volvos should you need any maintenance work doing. He doesn’t tune from what I remember. He’s difficult to get hold of though.
As with tuning, do it for drivability if you expect a certain figure you’ll be disappointed
+1 for Tim, been to see him a few times and he's a very nice guy and his workmanship/knowledge is immense.
I had my remap done at http://www.hlmtuning.co.uk/ but not sure if Hamish does them anymore, worth checking.
Here's my car making 321BHP, although it's the 2.4 T5 which is different (better) than the 2.3 T5.

I keep thinking of doing mine, first with a remap but not sure about long term implications on the components with higher BHP.
Get it doneThe engine will be fine on a stage 1. Just make sure it's warmed up before any hard acceleration.
The thing likely to go before it should is the clutch but this depends on how the car has been driven previously, I've only known a few on the T5 start to slip but they're all on well over 100k miles.
Anymore power I'd seriously consider the block mod, plus you'll be needing an exhaust and intercooler for that anyway![]()
Well, if i am getting it done i will be doing the Polestar as opposed to Shark. Mine is the auto with the Geartronic, does that slip like a regular clutch?
