Unless it's a deceptive photo, the Z4 looks surprisingly small when parked next to the Seat. I know there's a trend for cars getting larger, but even a first gen Z4 doesn't really seem like an "old" car to me. A great pairing of cars, though.

Z4's are a lot smaller than they look on pictures.
Nice. That will probably take a bit of getting used to after an MX5.
I know they are only roadsters after all, but I've never thought of them as particularly small until I saw that picture. Perhaps it's just a consequence of the design.
Someone on my road owns one, when I take the dogs for a walk later, I will stroll past as slowly as I can without raising suspicion to have a good look at it
Should have the roof down all the time on an MX5 anyway. No blind spots at all then!
I'm vertically challenged, could only dream of peering over the windscreen
Yep be my first V10, crazy it is in a family-sized saloon car.
Any recommended must-do mods, would not mind some more exhaust noise but options seem very limited and the exhaust mod that makes E92 M3's sound incredible seems to get mixed opinions from people who have done it to the E60 M5.
tbh i just ran the v10 as a daily for a few years i never touched it.
get in it and see what you think.
have heard a few with exhaust mods and they sound beastly.
4 pipe will be insanely loud.
Problem is they sound like Hondas and end up making more noise than they should for the speed they go. Plus with all the other cars he has I though this was to be sensible comfy one so going extremely loud seems a bit of the opposite directing. Its an easy mod to change though. Decat and a remap would be a good first start, that will open up the noise and give 30-35hp more.
The mod exhaust m3cutters post:
got Paul to do the 2 pipe mod at the weekend. 200 miles of town and motorway driving later... and sorry to say this... but I hate it!
My main problem is that for normal driving (between 2-4k rpm and small/medium load), the stock exhaust would have a deep, beefy and very satisfying rumble. Now all this character is lost and the sound is higher pitched and more tinny. At higher revs however the mod does exactly what I wanted - louder (but not obnoxiously so) with the same V10 howl. Sounded brilliant through the tunnels
But 95% of the time it's become worse IMO, and to be honest I regretted it from the moment I drove off Paul's driveway. So... what should I do? Wait a bit and see if it becomes better? Revert back to stock? See if it sounds better from the outside? Try another exhaust option?
If anyone around North London wants to offer an opinion I'm more than willing to take you out for a ride!"
"When I had my E60 M5 the one thing I thought was spot on was the engine sound, always likened it to a musical instrument, where throttle position determined the song played "
Yep I read that and listened to it and could hear it, then listened to guy with 4 pipe mod and it did not drone and owner says no drone, but I guess hearing is very personal.
I've also looked at cut out option and is something to consider as if the car sounds woeful and drony at normal speeds will drive me crazy, won't be touching exhaust for a while anyway because stock it does admittedly sound awesome and is mainly induction and I have always preferred induction noise over exhaust, hence leaving S2000 exhaust stock and just doing the air box mods and it sounds incredible, CSL had stock exhaust as did M3 and both sounded incredible and the M5 has plenty of induction but of course would be nice to have that V10 howl, hence down turned electronic cut outs is probably my better option.
Not sure I want to de-cat the car as I want to keep it MOT legal ideally but is still an option, 30-35HP gain is not bad though.
They pass on secondaries only and likely release a more metallic noise.
For induction then wait for that V10 carbon airbox, the Eventuri V8 one sounds amazing
