Show Us Your Motors!

It's done around 700 miles now, mainly all short local runs and at first the battery wasn't getting regularly charged, so being used more like a regular MHEV. However the past couple of weeks the battery is being topped up and the overall combined MPG since new is 45mpg, which considering its being driven quite sprightly I thought was pretty decent.

The MPG keeps going up daily now the battery is always topped up.

yes it was :D Fresh out of the latest lockdown we'd driven best part of 500 miles to a holiday cottage, popped into M&S for some food about 5 miles away and as we went to leave the parking space the dash lit up light a Christmas tree!

Been really pleased with it overall, and its been decent in the mud, snow and flooding - clearance isn't amazing but its surprisingly capable despite being seen as a 'fashion' Chelsea tractor

Sounds similar to mine, working one minute, turned engine off then all the dynamics / active suspension / steering / abs / tcs lights either on or not working.

Had mine though rivers / mud tracks and allsorts, put ours down to a bad sensor due to driving through far too many deep puddles at speed!

Got cleaned by a proper person. Much red, so fast.

This is one of my motors. First car, got it with 18k on it being 3 years old. Now ticking over 100k. 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback. 2.0 litre diesel. It's pretty much a VW 2.0 PD BKD with a BMN top mounted turbo.
Spent a clean fortune on it over the years. Turbo's, intercooler, 5 paddle clutch, full turbo back exhaust, springs/shocks/wheels etc. Have recently just replaced my old 5 paddle custom clutch with a 4 puk sachs sre kit, new flywheel and gearbox, guts of £1500 in parts alone. Have all brand new arms for the front/rear with new bushings, new engine mounts, Whiteline front and rear anti-roll bar kits (front/rear bar and adjustable drop links) and Yellowspeed Racing coilovers to go on. Have a bigger 2262vklr turbo to go on, need a new downpipe/whole exhaust made along with intercooler pipes, bigger intercooler and injectors.
Cars probably not even worth a grand. Never has let me down and hopefully never will, been abused all it's life, just changed oil and filters every 5-10k and she's golden.
Have a 10.2 Android headunit 8core/4GB ram. Alpine Type R front and rear with a 12" sub with amps for both. Headliner painted black, Audi style VLAND projector lights. Whilst doing all the suspension/bushings (will be brand new underneath) will be using Bilthamber stuff to rust convert/protect everything for a few years. Put's a smile on my face everytime I drive it lol

Those Lancers annoy me because you see the front and go "ooooh!" and then you see the rest and go "oh."

Had me thinking it was a low mileage Evo right up to where you pointed out it was a diesel sportback Lancer. :p

Who was it on here who spent Mazda3 MPS money trying to make a diesel Mazda3 fast, and in the end sold it for a huge loss and bought an MPS? :D

The compression at Paddock is like nothing else, it is much steeper in real life. In fact the whole track has so much elevation change in it which doesn't come across in video at all.

Yeah the dream was always an evo but I'm not made of money and love tinkering with things haha! Should be around 360bhp and close to 500lbft of torque, and will still do over 60mpg (does 65@70mph). If I ever win the lotto an evo will be the first thing I buy, will never get rid of the wee diesel lancer tho :) Also, I agree, the back is something only a mother could love, although there's hopefully someone in Australia who made LED tail lights so hopefully it will give it a new lease of life!

Tbh Mazda 3 MPS are crazy in tax, doesn't surprise me hahaha

Rather than create a new thread. What're peoples thoughts on GAP insurance on a ~3yr old £25k car?

We bought the above 2018 Lexus for ~£25k with the max deposit we could which was £9k the rest being on PCP as the rate wasn't much higher than a comparable loan and gave a little added flexibility. As such i doubt we'd ever be in negative equity and in the event it got written off i imagine any insurance payout would more than cover the finance as a rough guess. It's also going to depreciate fairly steadily i would imagine over the next ~4 years we own the car for rather than have any huge drops as a new car would.

It doesn't seem worth it but wanted to check there wasn't something i'm missing and a return to invoice policy for around £200 with ALA isn't exactly a lot of money.

Return to invoice is worthwhile, not from a covering the finance side as I'd be surprised if you had that problem, but if your car was written off in 3 years time and 15k paid out from your normal insurance, the GAP insurance should pay the 10k difference between what you were invoiced originally and your insurance payout.
