Not bad for a courtesy car tbh. Had 103 miles on the clock when I collected it earlier today. I’ll probably do a bit of an in-depth write up on this vs the GT in that thread. For now, only one word: Rapid.

Love that colour combo... regretting the GT purchase now?

What is it? 720S? Not a fan of the two-tone.
Yeah, it's a 720S

The 765LT has centre-triple-exit exhaust, a spikier rear spoiler and lower-sill badges... plus McLaren only recent resumed production of "standard" 720S models.

It's a coupe too, they haven't been making them for quite a while now... recent production run. You can tell by the roof-glass, the spider doesn't have it.

I miss my 720S :( The 812 is an amazing car with an awesome NA v12... but it doesn't spark the magic of the 720

Ah well... the 765LT & Senna will be with me soon...

Someone has a 720S (I think it is) around here - a few times people try and race them off the lights and they just might as well not bother they literally look like they are still standing still - howl and it has gone - I worked out once to disappear from my view over the top of one hill and be out of view by the time I got to the top they must have averaged 180MPH :s

I am not at all a fan of the colour combo - it just doesn’t gel together at all. The grey has blue patches and a big stripe down the middle and it doesn’t work with the orange. I’m sure this is all just personal taste stuff but it wouldn’t be a design I would personally want on my own car.

720S vs GT - I’d say the GT feels about half a generation newer inside. I am absolutely certain that I wouldn’t be able to do the trips I have planned for the GT in the 720S which was 80% of the reason I went looking for “a GT car” in the first place. My partner agrees (and it’s mainly her luggage to blame so I guess she’d know). The infotainment in the 720S is absolutely awful in comparison. The dash screen is visibly old compared to the GT and once seen it cannot be unseen. The GT seats are significantly more comfortable as well as the overall cabin being quieter. Also, I genuinely think the GT is the better looking car just through being a lot less fussy, no massive wing and the lines are cleaner etc. Personal taste etc of course.

On the other hand, if I was following myself driving the 720S in the GT I’d have absolutely no idea where I went. It might only be 100bhp down on paper but there is no doubt whatsoever as to the 720S being on a different level of performance entirely. This is exactly what I felt from a test drive of the two and while going from nothing to three figures in the blink of an eye is very exciting, it means you can’t really enjoy the car properly without risking a custodial sentence. The GT isn’t exactly slow but somehow it seems better at being driven quickly, slowly if you see what I mean.

I don’t at all regret choosing the GT over the 720S because it fits my needs and desires better but I’m happy I get to have an extended experience of the 720S! If I suddenly tripped over a huge pile of free money I’d not hesitate to buy either a 720S Spider or a 765LT to go alongside the GT though.

The 720S feels like it's 10 years ahead of Ferrari / Porsche / Lambo.

It really is a "super" car that only competes with "hyper" cars, the likes of a Koegnisegg, Aston Valkyrie, etc...

It's almost funny to say an 800bhp NA v12 feels slow compared to a 720bhp turbo v8... but it's true and while I picked the 812 for a specific reason after doing 20k-ish miles in the time I had my 720... I still regularly find myself wishing I hadn't changed... feels odd and overly complacent to be complaining about owning an 800bhp NA Ferrari. Still, I'm going to keep the 812, it may actually be the last production run NA v12. Haven't heard back about the Competitizione, so I'll assume I missed the boat on that one.

The 720 just does everything so well... even as a GT, it's more comfortable than an Aston, Porsche, Ferrari, BMW or Audi... etc... long distance comfort is only better in something like a Rolls / Merc / Maybach... Bentley is borderline.

Ah well... seems it's back to a 720S for my daily & the other cars become use-specific.

(I've done about 2-3k miles in the 812 the last 4 months, since I got it)

The 812's rear-end scares me more than the 720 ever did... so it has that going for it, at least

Fair enough... despite it's bonuses... I think the 720S will always have a fond place in my heart, maybe simply as it was my first supercar... if you don't include the 991.2 GT3... as soon as the 720 arrived, the GT3 was sold, I didn't even want to drive it anymore.

Even now, as mentioned above... I miss my 720 more than I thought I would... looks like I'm about to replace it.

It's nearly 4 years ago now... but I still remember this day. It was my birthday weekend.

Before I even started racing, I hit 7m32s that day.

Now I know how to race, I'm sure I'd make sub-7m without any trouble.

Epic car... can't believe it's been so long.

Nice photo spot, where's that?
I first saw the pic and wasn't a fan of the two-tone, then when scrolling back up I think I like it on second look :) Imagine it being quite a marmite look though and over time would probably grate. Beautiful car though.

For someone that was apparently only a member for a few months they certainly had a comfortable posting style of someone that had been here a while.

I noticed a few smart arse comments on other threads and was surpassed when I saw his join date.
