Thanks for that exactly what I wanted to know! It does look a good alternative, is radar cruise common or impossible to find 2nd hand? This might sound like a dirty word but did you consider a Kia Stinger....

I couldn't find many with radar cruise, and I wish I had - I use cruise all the time on long journeys.

I think active cruise systems are great and if you can find a car with it, I'd go for it over, say, B&O.

I did look at the Kia Stinger. I REALLY like the look of it.

It didn't wow me though. I didn't test drive one at all, but I have heard/seen one up close. Was just a bit bland

Though it's undoubtedly very good value.

How much difference are you actually noticing? I’ve been wondering recently if an LR with acceleration boost would be mostly the same car. As I’ve only ever owned an M3P, I don’t have a frame of reference.
I had an LR with boost and changed to this. M3P has a noticeable kick over the LR+ and although the differnce is most marked off the line is does feel faster from mid range too, plus the sound of the electrics pushing it on is more pronounced. The LR+ is a fast car, as is the LR out the box, its all relative and I really only went with the Performance because I didn't want to feel like I was in exactly the same car as before plus I love the look of it, the wheels, brakes etc.

I don't think you can buy the LR currently but test drives are easy enough so why not try one and see :)

is it worth whacking one in the garage and sitting on it, the prices for these have been a steal second hand so far.

That's what I want to hear! :)

The best generation, the newer ones don't do it on looks for me, these earlier cars look so right,

Agreed, not that I'm in a position to buy a Gen 2, and of course no doubt technically far superior; they nailed the original design.

Market has peaked on pricing, still not dropped back much yet, best to not be buying cars as investment when they have peaked for the short term. See where prices are at over next 3-6 months as a lot of cars I forsee will take a hammering on price, only a select few will hold price or move up further.

Those buying to keep and enjoy its totally different, if the car in the spec you want comes along, just get it purchased as its not like there is ample supply of a lot of nice older cars these days, either in collections, keepers or have been modified, crashed etc.

Regular car market is already crashing from the highs of just a few months ago, a lot of super cars are showing signs of softening now and some have, of course some have also gone up.

Can't argue with that.

I've been watching the prices for years, £40k down to £30k for ropey examples, seem to have levelled off a bit now but impossible to say where it's going to go next.

Mine was £37k, manual V8, 50k miles, FSH with recent clutch, had new discs and pads, mag-ride dampers, all 4 alloys refurbed, and the front bumper resprayed. Also got a 12 month warranty package, which we'll see is worth the paper it's written on.

Plan is to keep it for a year, use it, enjoy it, and move it on with whatever value they're at by then.

Man maths tells me at worst it'll be worth £30k, any less and I'll likely keep it longer.

Have to say I was also tempted by something similar as I've loved the R8 for so long. Lack of credible warranty put me off though.
