Show Us Your Motors!

Beautiful looking car you've got there Gibbo. I'd ruled out Volcano Red from my 12C aspirations but having seen the photos of your car I'm tempted to give that a second thought :D

You need to see it, but I've seen it on a 12C and it does not seem to work as well, it might be the heavy mix of gloss black and the red working well together on 600 LT, don't get me wrong it still looks awesome but sometimes different colours can suit different cars/shapes.
But colour is very personal, people rave over Volcano Orange but to me it just looks copper in colour and I dislike it, very personal thing. Buy what makes you happy! :) The 12C are a bargain at 65-80k, but I'd personally always try to save the extra to get into the 650S which is essentially a 12C with all issues ironed out and some nice updates, but of course you'd also hope that any 12C been sold today has had all the issues ironed out.

For me Mclarens best colours are Volcano red and yellow, Helios orange, Napier green and the metallic purple they do, maybe lantern but for me their purple can almost appear dark in the shade so was not for me.

I don't think you can go wrong with any Mclaren pearlescent/metallic colour they seem to just have an edge over other brands, Ferrari charge like 22k for similar paints and could argue Mclaren still has the edge in colour.

Also the first car I've had with Pzero's that actually feel good, might change my mind if they are woeful in wet but dry the tyre seems to have a good mix of grip and move around ability.

Also took the 600 LT out for a night drive, headlights are epic, full beam like a football stadium.

Garage is next on his list surely?

I have a triple garage on my home property, which will do I am not digging any more of the back garden up lol. :D

Secured another garage on another property which I am using also which is where the Corvette is going to live as its use is not so regular. :)
The high value stuff is all inside, 458, Exige and 600 LT.
Corvette is in a garage off site.
M3 and GR are outside but both are those might be going soon, as considering some epic man maths. :D

Very nice. Still have not idea why you got that corvette. Is it an investment?

I just always loved the old C3's and when the Pace Car came up I had to have it, when I fancy a really relaxing drive or the Corvette club is doing something, that is the car plus I've made some great friends and had some great trips away.
Sometimes it is nice to just plod along yet still be driving something truly special and rare.

Not an investment, suspect I will never lose money on it but if I ever sold it I'd be happy to get what it owes me, if it ever made money well I won't complain.

The two (?) 12C's I've seen in daylight in Volcano Red were both on dull days and I thought it was far too dark of a colour. Also saw one on Monday which might've been Volcano red but it had a horrendous paint match on the rear 3/4 panel, completely different to the door & fuel cap.

I thought about the 650S but the reality is if I stretched to make a 650S happen (at current asking prices) I'd not have any money to enjoy it. My plan is to swap my 360 Spider for a 12C potentially & then when that's sorted move on my Evo 9 GT which should fund something else interesting & some pennies to do an epic euro roadtrip potentially. Idea is a late 12C (or an updated early one) should be just as reliable and I'm only down the road from Thorney which is a bonus. I think the 12C Spiders were pretty sorted as they came out a bit later than the coupes.

My caveat is nothing Silver or white, probably not black (although the Fire Red car I saw in bright sunlight was incredible - black with huge amounts of metalflake in it), preference for Orange I think, loved the one I test drove albeit the colour was a little flat maybe - I think that was just Mclaren Orange. Papaya Orange 650S I saw at Supercarfest Runway last year was incredible too but I don't think they did that one on the 12C.

Make sure you drive a 12C before committing, drive nothing like a Ferrari and you will either love or hate it, also try to get into a later 12C if you can as Mclaren made some dramatic changes to the way the car handled. if you watch Fifth Gear of the 458 vs 12C they pick up well on the handling issues the 12C has / had:

They are biblical fast and if all the issues have been ironed out now superb buys as they were built to a high standard been Mclarens first true production supercar. But at any kind of sane speeds on the road they can almost come across as boring, exactly how I found the 720S to be in all honest, just a total none event unless you were properly going for it on the road at which point you'd be in huge trouble and spending a year or two in jail, so be warned where you Ferrari will be an event at 30mph you will be wanting to do 130+ in the 12C, so do drive one. Also consider a 570S values are really coming down and you can get in them for 75-85k mark and though slower is to me a more entertaining car and rewards at lower speeds, but nothing will compare to your 360 and your 360 will probably not shed any more value.

Your EVO 9 GT, I could be interested, drop me a message on instagram. ;)

Also Thorney Motorsport has a few 12C for sale. ;)

I personally would always choose a 650S over a 12c, like for like. It is only recently (last 3 months maybe) that the whole 12c market has dipped to be the current delta to the 650S market. I expect things will re-align with either the 12c going back up a bit or the 650Ss coming down a little more while 12Cs stay where they are. For me, the styling of the 650S makes the difference although that's not to say the 12c is a bad looking car. Driving wise the 650S has the edge in every regard - it is more instantaneous than the 12c, the steering is better, the grip is a step on etc etc

I wouldn't buy any sport series car over a 650S unless it was a 600LT either. Horses for courses as I absolutely loved every one of the 2k miles I put on "my" 720S but Gibbo is right, you are going very, very quickly a lot of the time you're in one!

Oh don't get me wrong I much prefer the styling of the 650S vs the 12c (although the 12C has aged well I think) but when the cost difference is £20k it's hard to justify, £10k or so and it begins to be a more difficult proposition admittedly... Maybe I should go check out a 650S Spider :D

But in slower paced news, new daily picked up today purely for mile munching. 1 previous owner, 171k miles, full history including a recentish bill for more than the price I paid where they had the cam chain replaced. My god is it filthy though, especially inside... that's a job for someday soon.

Gave the car a good washing today and then a coat of Si02:

Paint is superb condition hardly any swirls and entire front is PPF and PPF running down lower sides.

Washing it though and waxing it is a nightmare I swear I could done 2-3 cars in the time it took to do this. Just so many crevices and holes / gaps in the bodywork make it somewhat a nightmare.

Still results speak for themselves, there is a meet in Shrewsbury tomorrow at a car retailers no idea what to expect but might as well go and decent roads round there and good weather forecast too.
