Show Us Your Motors!

Used to love doing the same when my Mum had hers, almost to the point I considered an Up GTI. It is why the whole 1980-1990's hot hatches have gone bonkers in price, truly engaging and ability to drive them like an absolute nutter but never be exceeding 80-90mph, I did love my Clio 172 Cup for this, only car I got caught speeding in as I literally drove everywhere with the red mist fully engaged, got clocked at like 93mph coming of a roundabout sideways onto a dual carriage-way, thankfully it was an NSL stretch and the van was on opposite side of carriage-way but he clearly heard me coming and took an interest. Just one of those moments when you clock your favourite roundabout empty, so calculate the perfect line and try to go round it faster than you have ever done and then propel out the other side full chat, felt great and got the photo evidence for it, I was so in the zone and totally missed the cash collector on opposite side of road. :D

What made it such good fun as you could drive so hard, so flat out on an NSL, be smiling like a Cheshire cat and if an officer ask for a photo well its just 3 points, whereas in a super car you'd be risking picking up the soap.

If anyone wants to scare themselves silly, buy this: :D
You should definitely invest in a 106 Rallye Gibbo. Just total bonkers car but without the hyperspeed. Pretty sure you've experienced mine from the passenger seat :D

They are fab, I did look a while back for one and a 106 GTI or even a Saxo VTS but I could not find a clean, standard rust free example. Like hens teeth for a decent one or silly money.

I know the forum loves a set of black wheels so may I present you with:

Literally looks like it’s floating. :D

Don’t worry these are a track set of wheels which are running wider 305 rear and 235 front semi slick, just doing a trial fit as from an MP4-12C. Fit is good and no rubbing!

Far prefer the diamond cut wheels my car has visually though but these serve a purpose. :)

Penis wheels (once it has been seen it cannot be unseen, sorry!)

Looks purposeful though on those for sure

I went to look at an R8 V10 a week or so ago and ended up spending more time lusting over a 106 GTi

I can’t work out if I want one that much though.

Just going to leave a photo of my two sheds here now that the E46 has returned and they're both cleaned up.

2004 330d which I will have owned for 10 years in January 2024 and the 2009 335d that I bought a couple of weeks ago. Over 100,000 miles difference between the two and I can positively state that the E46 has much better paintwork in terms of swirl marks, contamination, etc., but I probably won't get chance to give the 335d a proper going over for a few months.

Neither are anything special in this day and age, but I'm happy with them. Luckily I live in the middle of nowhere and never go in to a big city, so the ULEZ-type malarky shouldn't get me for a few years yet.

Why have 1 RS when you can have 2 instead :D found a new friend who has the exact same model (more or less same spec) except his is Titanium Grey and has a nicer sounding exhaust!
These cars are pretty rare.....perhaps 300 in all of UK...most seem to be off road garage queens :(...our 2 are high mileage daily drivers :p

This type of yellow is exclusive to Renaultsport its a liquid yellow triple layer pearl....absolute nightmare PITA to repair stone chips though takes roughly a day for minor repairs so many different stages....I have several now to repair due to pothole damage plus need a new windscreen already :( PPF looks wrong in direct sunlight on a pearl IMO you can see it clearly no matter how good a job they do!

Mine has a liquid ceramic coating Renault applied before I took delivery but it only protects from minor damage & makes the paint look very smooth even when not been washed properly for months!

I was behind a Liquid Yellow one the other week in South Yorkshire - Big fan of these, the first I have seen in the flesh.

Great looking car, the rear is wide and aggressive I absolutely love it.

Extra points for being unique.

Thanks mate...yes they are unique so few around that are actually driven...but the handling is the best feature it is literally the best handling front wheel drive car you can buy...my spec model can do the 14 miles nurburgring track just 7 secs shy of the front wheel drive world record held by a £72K Megane Trophy-R (130KG lighter with ceramic brakes, carbon wheels & lots of carbon fibre!). That is how potent these cars are stock OEM! I expect the prices to sky rocket as more & more petrolheads discover just how good they are but I would never ever sell mine!

The wide rear is also highly functional as the diffuser runs under 30% of the rear of the car & provides immense downforce sucking the car down to the road (the external vents are to stop the aero from stalling!). Renaults F1 team provided their facilities for the cars R&D it also has a 200K RPM F1 derived turbo with ceramic ball bearings so zero turbo lag & 420NM means it has incredible acceleration plus the 4 Control steering system provides immense grip around corners very few cars can match the cornering performance over a typical UK B road A-B journey this car will be way ahead of anything else by a considerable margin!

I daily drive my RS300 aswell, and often use it with the kids etc. It's a good all rounder and also fun to drive when by myself.

Do still debate parting with mine, the prices seem to be dropping a little lately, there's one place on autotrader that seems to have 2-3 for sale with varying spec but imo they are priced too high compared to others.

Great car, best I've had for sure (so far)

The Grey doesn't quite do it for me, I think it has to be yellow or orange at a push.

What mileage are you up to now? I've only just gone over 14k :D my commute isn't far.

Any perishables to sort yet? Other than tyres obvs. (Which I'm likely due soon (new fronts were put on when I picked it up at purchase)

33700 now LOL you need to drive it some more!! :p

Just keep a close watch on fluids. Oil, brake, coolant, screenwash. Check all regular say every few weeks some drop in spring a little due to air temps improving. Its way cheaper to keep them topped up than expensive issues if they fall below minimum levels! Tyres you need to check the inner fronts either on a ramp or turn the steering both ways as far as it will go as all the wear is inner front edges due to camber & 4 control steering system.

As for prices I still think it will within a few years be closer to 6 figures than 5 once word gets around how perfect the handling is though ;) right now you have 1976 Ultime about to enter the marketplace (most are already sold & not even UK bound unless imported!) so prices are not going to change much but sooner or later it will go up sharply once more petrolheads own them & the word gets out about just how extreme the handling is ;)

Cheers for the tips, yeah mine are ok at the mo on the insides :) any discs and pads for you yet? I imagine the discs have good life on them still.

6 figures aye, hmm I don't know but I do agree they will at least hold and maybe climb a bit in the coming years we shall see. There's certainly not many for sale in the UK compared to their direct competitors

Front pads were changed in Dec 2022. Rears still had 50% left then...fronts had 5% LOL. I pre-bought the OEM pads & took them with me...dealer refused to change the rears as not worn enough...fronts they did though...you can DIY its a simple job but have to get the vehicle up in the air a bit & remove the wheels so easier for a dealer to do...its only about 15 mins labour but they charge the full hour! Took about 3 weeks to get the pads...nearly every part for an RS is on back order you have to order then wait or hope for the best as Renault do not carry most things at all in stock its all to order as such a low volume model...

Discs are ok still when they need replacing its going to be an expensive time as they are about £1K for all 4!

Prices will skyrocket eventually...look at the Williams Clio RS V6 prices for instance! ;) well the MK4 RS is way better in every possible way so give it time watch them go through the roof :p

Interestingly that colour hasn't been exclusively used on Renaults though. There have been several Lotus Exiges factory painted in Liquid Yellow.
