Show Us Your Motors!

Where abouts in wales were you for that pic? Looks great! Want to do another wales run out after spending a day in the Elan valley earlier this year which was amazing! :D

Black Mountain.

It was a Wales Tour I organised for a few car mates, in short we covered a mixture of the best A and B roads, including a lot of EVO recommendations and other journalist.

From Oswesty we took B4391 to @palehallhotel for lunch, and drove the fantastic roads around Bala (B4391), then off to Harlech for a stroll on the beach, before winding down epic coastal roads to @plasnanteosmansion. The second day we explored the Brecons and its famous driving roads, Black Mountain for stunning scenery, then the Military testing road plus all the A and B roads between, before a very relaxing stay at @lakecountryhotel which we'll definitely revisit. One of the best hotels we've visited and great food too! Sunday was a very chilled day with blast across more Brecon beacon roads and a stop for some Gin tasting at @ludlowfarmshop.

Was nothing short of a spectacular drive, some proper winding but great flowing, very fast roads, we all had fun and the McLaren was nothing short of epic to drive and its now on 19,000 miles (9000 in my ownership).

Say hello to 'Peanut' my 1958 Austin A35.

Totally standard apart from those wheels.

Dynamo, positive earth, points ignition, no seatbelts or mirrors, terrifying manual drum brakes.

Lots of minor issues and horrible noises to attend to. :p

I am a lot happier since embracing my chaotic decision making... :p

£0 tax, no MOT requirement (though that may be a bad thing judging by some of the noises I need to investigate! haha)

£9 a month to insure. Fully comp with protected no claims.

Yes you read that right. :p

Incredible car but sounds like a deathtrap.

And I say that as the owner of a 90's Japanese shed.

Ahh but here's the trick, it may have no brakes or seatbelts, but the top speed is 3, so its fine.

In seriousness though, the quoted top speed when new was 72, realistically thats more like 65 unless you want to blow the thing up, and any faster than 40-45~ gets a bit noisy.

The brakes are good enough to lock the wheels, you just have to really press them hard. Strong leg muscles are essential. :p

Quite a rare colour actually. And with some bits of extra spec I really wanted. So not too bad at all. Not a huge fan of standard wheels though. So....

Before picking it up I bought some wheels, which are currently away for refurbishment. Then tyres, then they will go on. Then did a few little jobs such as wire in two USB ports to fusebox to charge phones, one in center console cubby, and another on a phone holder on vents at drivers door. Then wired in the dashcam. Boring stuff really, but nice little quality of life stuff. Then added a dongle for wireless carplay.

Then, today I fitted some carbon fibre shift paddles, and updated nav unit firmware and maps, and a little bit of hacking / modification to get some features running how I want.
