Show Us Your Motors!

Thanks for the nice comment :D

Lowering has helped it drives more how I would prefer less floaty at motorway speeds and with the other bits it actually goes round corners pretty well for a tail dragger.
The brakes are large yes but id rather be able to stop quickly than accelerate quickly. They were originally from a 2L vectra so I carried over the callipers and carriers the rest bolts on as normal.
End of the day I appreciate its not everyone's cup of tea. But for me it does exactly what I want.
Also a little unexpected surprise lurks in the boot, if your into audio these will tickle your fancy
Genesis Sereis 2 SM100 and series 3 ST60
Was wondering how you managed to get 4 stud brakes from a vectra until i realised that the baseline models were 4 stud. My saab uses the same brakes as the 5 stud vectra b's. The upgrade for mine is to get the vectra GSi caliper carriers which are for 308mm discs. Lowering mine and fitting poly bushings made a hell of a difference, but then the whole suspension system was 16 years old. The suspension and bushings have not had a detrimental effect on handling or on the geometry, but i fitted decent springs and dampers.(eibach and bilstein) The poly engine mounts have increased vibration at idle though, as it is quite strong until its up to temperature.

Nice audio bits, i like my custom installs. Mine is a 9 channel system with 3 way front speakers, rear fill and a sub. The amplifiers were supposed to be a bit better, but the better ones both have psu faults. (an alpine 3552 and another alpine MRV-F400 V12) I prefer old school equipment, back from the late '80s and early '90s as they have nicer SQ vs the more modern kit. I'm on the lookout for a 3558, a 3546 or a 3566. (all very rare Alpine models) This current setup is taking a while to adjust so it sounds right. TBH I need to put some dynamat or similar in, especially around the doors, but can't be bothered. The money would be better spent on bits that make the car perform/handle better.

Isn't that just because the old suspension was knackered? Most suspension refreshes are going to feel better than it did on the 12 year old original stuff.

Why bother saying this?

1) Ever driven a 200BHP Golf MK4 on standard suspension? :)

2) Because it's true. But people forget.

Anyway, nice to see a bit of audio in the thread too :D When I finally install a few bits I will have to post back, only replaced front components and head unit so far, not had time for anything else :(

The Yaris I have is good on twisty's, but there is too much body roll then I would have liked. I was thinking about lowering it from it's standard 20mm drop to 30mm, but then again it would be on springs and not coilovers.

I'm a bit vary of touching the suspension and what not, so will just leave it standard.

What Yaris model?

I once drove my cousin's 2002 Yaris and it was anything but good at turning :p I think the wind caused it to bodyroll as well :¬|

Indeed, the seating position is about 2m off the ground too.

Great for a first car or an a>b run around, but they aren't 'good in the twisties'

I may be lacking in horsepower but its more for twistys then straights and should be competing this year in audio leagues

Its a 1.2 04 Corsa C. modifications include lowering by 40mm on spax springs and bilstein shocks. Curpa R splitter, 280mm brakes up front and 16in alloys. I've done more but I wont bore you with it. End of the day it rarely gives me grief and its a laugh to drive[/QUOTE]

Ok so it's not the worst Corsa i've ever seen but...

Have you driven a car that actually is good in the twisties? I'm interested to know how you compare a Corsa C to something that can actually take a corner.

2) Because it's true. But people forget.

It is also the most fundamentally worthless, useless and pointless waste of bandwidth on the internet.

'People like what they like'.

Really? What a revelation. Perhaps, if you use a little bit of brain power, you can see that what people are actually questioning is WHY somebody likes something and not IF they like something.

Without the ability to question other peoples opinions a discussion forum is fundamentally worthless.

Oh, and 'Ever tried a 200bhp Golf', you say that like its some sort of untamed monster :D
