Show Us Your Motors!

Drove a 550i GT yesterday. How people keep their licences in such effortless cars I have no idea.
Although the 535i/d is no slouch, either..

The power delivery is effortless, it just does not stop and you can't stop grinning when you overtake or just put your foot down. It’s so easy to beak any speed limit you are on but you have to exercise some discipline with the right foot. I’m finding that the head-up display helps an awful lot to keep me in check. At the end of the day it’s about being sensible and picking the time/place for some fun.

It's just so quiet and smooth, too! I cringed when my dad took it to the redline when the engine was stone cold, but whatever, not our car :o
I don't believe any of these cars (bar the diesels) have turbos. I certainly didn't notice any turbo lag!

The HUD is brilliant though, especially with the speed limit info.
Although it did say 60km/h on a road with a 30km/h limit a few times :p

I just want to thank all posters for putting up shots of their cars. I found the motorsport section and have been lurking there for a few weeks. I stumbled on this thread the other night and love seeing the cars we just don't get here. Even the stuff you would see on a regular day and think nothing off, love seeing it.

I may be lacking in horsepower but its more for twistys then straights and should be competing this year in audio leagues

Its a 1.2 04 Corsa C. modifications include lowering by 40mm on spax springs and bilstein shocks. Curpa R splitter, 280mm brakes up front and 16in alloys. I've done more but I wont bore you with it. End of the day it rarely gives me grief and its a laugh to drive

You've gotta be kidding, right?

They are machines.

Although the 16's will have somewhat retracted from possible acceleration, the lowering will have messed up various variables like the roll centre etc

Lowering is actually a hell bent way to ruin the handling of a car.

I was thinking "Huh, Fox hasn't replied yet" and then I looked at my phone and up pinged a reply to thread email and who replied? Yep :p

Mine felt slightly better when I had it lowered, then it got a lot better when I had the stiffer ARB's fitted.

99% of cars will be ruined this way.

Did you lower both ends? If so you end up with a very flat handling car especially at the rear, great for tracks. Where I live its nothing like a track.

OE suspension is generally the best for road use, even aggressive. If it isn't, try a better car.

Not trying to come across snotty, I've actually got two of the same car. One lowered 40mm the other stock. I can do things in the OE suspension car that would throw the lowered one off the road. If I could race myself in both cars, the lowered one wouldn't have a chance.

I suppose its all down to your preference and experience.

I think my bloated hatch is a lot better off on the suspension it's on now than the OEM nasty stuff.

It's that age old people liking what they like thing again... If you don't like what the next man does, then tough, go move on with your own life.

Thanks, I never realised what was holding me back in life so much... concerning myself over the driving characteristics of other people and their cars. ;)

:p
