Show Us Your Motors!

Ere John, Got a new Motor.
Won't be to most peoples taste I s'pose but I just couldn't resist it. Body & Interior are straight & in Excellent condition. Running 18's on Spax adjustables pushing a Superchip.

Some Flat top Goodness.

Came with 97k up it & All the MOT's to prove it, both keys etc Last owner had it for 10 years.

Takes me Straight back to the Eighties. :o + :D +

I'll get some better pics up tomorrow.

It's a Mk5 RS2000 for those that don't know.

I know but it was dark when i got back & only had these on my phone that the Dude sent me earlier to reel me in, I'll clean it up & takes some pics the morrow.

Ah that's a MKVb RS2000, I prefer the look of the MKV RS2000 as you get bonnet bulges

Nice all the same though.

Thats a clean looking beast, i love them "last owner 10 years" cars, you know its good news then :)

Definitely mate, When I saw the ten year last owner history & the work that's been done it sold it, You can see the new head it had during the rebuild. Needs a few spots sorted but only small bits, The usual spots like battery tray & round the filler cap are mint.

@Janesy Cheers Dude any info on the model etc is well appreciated, I was told it's an SP5  Mean anything to you ?
I do prefer how mine looks overall to the one you posted but Yes I want the Bulges. :o (Searches Ebay for a bonnett :p)

SP5 doesn't mean anything to me. The model designation is MKVb, the MKV got slated so badly that Ford rushed out a heavily face lifted Escort after a couple of years and called it the MKVb. That's all I know about them really, the engine is slightly odd in that it's the |4 DOHC engine used in the Sierra and not a Zetec as you'd expect.

You're bang on Janesy, The original Mk5 was slated so they updated the rear end & handling & threw a few bits on. I can't find a reason for the DOHC but I do love how it looks.

Ditch the stupid wheels (sell for a profit) get some OEM or dare I say it Mondeo 5 spokes (cheaper than Cosworth) wheels on there and will look OK to quite good.

Looks great 4T5, I've always had a soft spot for them actually, especially the pre-facelift with the bulges, in white

From what I can find, they used the Sierra DOHC as a base (it had an all-new 16v head though) because the Zetec wasn't quite ready when the Mk5 RS2000 was introduced in 1991 (The zetec didn't come out until '92), I guess they just carried it over to the later RS2000 rather than re-engineer it with a Zetec.

Found out loads more about the motor today as I met the guy that rebuilt the engine, New Head/chain/followers, Super chip fitted, limiter removed & untold I've forgot, run flats all round & the spaxs were all fitted recently & the wheels were done as well. I'm off up to meet the guy who had it for ten years later in the week, Turns out he works at a garage where I know the owner.
Looks like I dropped lucky with it being the MKVb.
Out & about today all I can say is it puts a smile on my face & makes me feel twenty odd again. :p Thing goes mental past 4-5k  + :D

What are these like performance wise, my mate has just picked up a similar one but a MK6 I think, slightly more rounded front end.

I have a Xsara VTS at the mo, is performance similar to that?

I've not been in a VTS mate so can't say, Standard the MkVb is 150bhp & tops out at 131mph. Mine is s'posed to better that but obviously until I test it I can't say, It feels pretty quick though but I've not driven anything quick for ages so it would. It's does go Nutz after 4k though.
