I'd want to know why 1 of those plugs is oiled up.
Given that it's only above the thread, I'd guess cam cover gasket.
I'd be more concerned by the fact that one is black and sooty - I'd check the lead/coil/dizzy and/or the injector on that cylinder.
You should fill your back window with them

The rocker gasket has probably seen better days as its weeping from the front, but it'll stay like it is for a bit longer yet...
The coil pack is all gravy, and hopefully will be for a bit longer, the leads were replaced, but can't remember if that plug has one or not (twin/shared coil pack design) Just sooty wear and tear I think
check the new plugs after a thousand miles or so to check if it is still occurring.
Got to admit malc I've seen your new car whilst passing on my way to work. It truly looks a cracker mate. Really stands out Hope you enjoy it.
Cheers mate, I've just come in from washing it for the 3rd time since Sunday.
Went down to Ford today & bought a new brake fluid reservoir top & ordered a gen gear knob as the one on is some Carlos fandango one. I honestly can't believe the car has turned out as good as it is & was well prepared to do any work needed but there's only a few minor bits here & there I can do. Guys down Ford were sound & promised me decent deals for owt I wanted as they liked the car. Weird how there's so much love for an old Escort but I just think it's down to an Era thing & that so many people actually owned an Escort of some form or tuther.
Pretty much all there is to do now is enjoy the car, Go to a few meets & get sucked into minting her up I s'pose.
Straight swap mate & he rang me hassling me for the deal, I understand it even less now I've been all over the car & know it to be sound.
Went out & had a quick polish this evening & took some more pics, I need to find a nice location to get some decent pics.
Ok ok I solemnly promise the motors section of OcUK that they will be changed by Monday 9am. +
