I love the front of the C30...but really dislike the back of it. It looks like they just got lazy.
Well the rear of the car is very Marmite. The reason that styled it like that was to make it look reminiscent of the P1800ES and 480. I personally like it.
Quite a fan of the C30, what do you make of it overall? Which engine does it have in?
Overall I think it is quite a good but like every car it has it's upsides and downsides. Its not a traditional hatchback in the sense of practicality. The hatch for the boot is small and oddly shaped and there isn't a massive amount of leg room for rear passengers. The seat are very, very comfortable and the rear seats are exactly the same as the fronts. The car is put together very well and I haven't had anything break at all on it in the time I have owned it and as with all Volvo's it is very safe, see my post here.
Mine has the old 2 litre diesel engine in it, which is supposed to be much better then the replacements Volvo are putting the C30 currently. It puts out 136 bhp and 236 lb-ft of torque so its not amazingly fast with a 0 - 60 time of 9.1 seconds. Its much better when you have a rolling start and it is quite good between 30mph - 60mph but again, nothing to set your pants on fire. Handling is really this cars biggest downfall. The stock tyres/wheels are not really wide enough and it is quite easy to get under-steer from it if you push it round a corner. I currently have 8 inch wide wheels on it and this really improves the handling. I get about 45 - 47 mpg out of it but on long journeys it is easily getting 55+ so it is quite good in that department. Oh and it looks pretty .
I guess it is the perfect car for someone who is young and doesn't need a massively practical car but wants something that is comfortable and relatively cheap to run. That said I am looking at changing it in the next 6 months as I want something that is a bit more fun to drive .
