Show Us Your Motors!

Yeah!

Here's mine alongside a friend's new Mazda 3 MPS that I shot series of this week.

He took me for a ride in it and it is surprisingly quick. 2.3T 256BHP and 380Nm torque. The sound it makes is really nice too, there's no turbo spooling noise, only a heavy KHSSSSSHHHH of air coming out of the fat exhaust, it's not rumbly either like an Imprezza with a similar sized exhaust.

Shame it's poor to drive otherwise it would be a great car.

Can you elaborate (I am genuinely interested)? I've not driven it but he had no complaints to share about it. He also owns a 300+BHP GTO by the way so I imagine if it was really bad he'd have said something! Car mag reviews seem to say it only suffers from torque steering but in a way that makes it better as you have to be on the ball all the time with it.

I'd never think of owning one (or anything Japanese like this), the plastics on the interior and dash layout are not to my liking at all but I was impressed with the ride.

Simply isn't as fun to drive as an ST or R26, the steering feedback is very poor, however i think they offer great value for money and look great from the front and side with the Aero kit.

Took one out round silverstone south circuit the other day and was surprised how well it handled actually, it was a little dead in the steering but it performed so well through the corners and the acceleration was blistering. It did feel a bit of a blunt instrument in comparison to the mx-5 but still great fun.

I do wonder how much it would suffer on non-track surfaces though...

Ah I see, cheers. Is it the usual case of light as a feather steering feedback as in 95% of all Jap cars?

I would love to try one round a track, it's hard to make a proper judgement on the road during a quick testdrive, cheap for what performance it offers.

Not really that just very uncommunicative, the R26 in particular is mile ahead particularly when you get up a bit of speed and feels miles better when you plant your foot round a corner.

A FWD car is never going to have great steering feel and feedback vs a sorted RWD car however i thought that was a particular letdown of the MPS and given the fact it's a hot hatch a major disappointment.

The Mazda3 MPS's have never been raved as great handling cars but extremely good value for money with a lot of power. The newer shape MPS is very nice. If it wasn't for insurance, tax and fuel I would be considering one for a future Polo replacement!

I do really like the shape, the wheels are large and unlike a lot of cars, they fill the arches with mere centimetres of gap. Looks ace. That and the absolutely massive fist sized exhaust.

Blame your mate DM.

I can't help but blame the "nuke it from orbit" reaction of the moderation team towards the situation. He's banned and I'm personally making an effort to deal with my 'problems' myself instead of dragging them on here unfaiely to you lot. Aside from the drunken knobbish behavior I can't remember a single bad thing about the ot thread? It was the best thing on this forum for a while, why it has been removed because it was abused by a few is beyond me. Oh well, back to the cars :)
