Show Us Your Motors!

I'd be tempted to do the lenses, give it a damn good polishing (with a rotary), get the wheels looking utterly mint, and clean it up (interior/engine bay/etc), then shift it on and get something good ;)

I would be inclined to do that if I had an idea of what i wanted next, but I don't have a clue.

This car has brought me to a sad realization that jumping well ahead of the game in terms of bhp has perhaps spoiled me a bit. 250 bhp shouldn't be slow to a 20 year old even in a barge!

I thought I wouldnt miss the power, I thought leather ans toys could make up for it but it doesn't.

So I am stuck with my small budget, my refusal to go fwd, a 320+bhp hole to fill and ive still got to somehow get insured once I find something. I can't go back to a normal car if a fully loaded barge has bored me in just a week and I can't really go much better than the old soarer in terms of power for the money. My only option is going the other way a d getting something track focused, but that's going to suck around town.

and the worst thing is that i know how to solve my issues. I need two cars, a barge like this and a Turbo Nutter track car, but I sturggle to run one car let alone two :(.

Live within your means and start enjoying yourself. Trying to finance mutliple cars which just doesn't seem possible is a stupid idea.

Why you have already said numerous times you don't need a daily? Get yourself something track focused and run it as a daily. You don't need a barge your just being greedy. You have to make a choice, I would go for power personally.

Yes it will suck around town, but your 20 not 40 so who cares? I could honestly live with my clio stripped out, the only reason I don't as I have no need to when I move closer to a track I will consider it more.

Passed MOT for another year yesterday, I could get to like the monster truck suspension safari WRC look. :D

Judging by previous discussions, I don't think we'll be able to get these points across. Just like people scoffed at the thought of this Soarer. Sometimes people only learn by finding stuff out themselves.

I am not quite sure how you can say that. People scoffed at this soarer for financial reasons. Buying a track car and using it properly is going to cost more so i am not seeing the point? Fundamentally there wasn't much wrong with me buying this car, my low income aside. On the face of it I thought it'd be a car that I would enjoy, on paper I should love it but for the reason I have described above I don't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I am still happy with it for the meantime and running it for a few months isn't going to be a chore, but it isn't the car that I want to keep for years and years and years like i tthought it would. Not without a supercharger bolted onto it at least.

Now time to take a step back, have a rethink :). No harm done so far.

I think you think about it too much.

Cool. I'm happy for you. :) I will not bother offering advice in the future.

I know how this feels.

Sucks, doesn't it? Its also a bit annoying to think that there is some hidden factor in liking a car that you can't really account for until you've paid your money and had it for a bit :(.

Joshy, I thought your old one was a bit knackered? Did it really *feel* like it had 250-270bhp?

Nah, the old one was good. Never did a dyno run but 310 - 320 would be a sensible guess given the mods. Of course I wasn't happy with it and was always looking for more, but it was enough :). This has around 250 ish and 250kg more weight plus lacks the excitement of being turbocharged so seems slow and dull in comparison.

Sold my Impreza when fuel prices started rocketing and bought a cheap run about;

MK4 GOLF TDI 90 - Remapped to 130 BHP. Plenty of poke for knocking around and very cheap to run.

And our work truck, surprisingly the only photo I have of it!

L200 Di-d 135BHP.

Your scenario is slightly different though, you bought a completely different car.

I don't think the fact the his is a completely different car and mine is not really means that much. The point is that both of our research, thoughts and feelings led us to the cars we chose and on paper we should be happy, but just aren't.
