Why won't it run though? :(

It starts. Its just when I bought it the seller managed to flood it trying to start it on a flat battery (but didn't realize). I offered him a few hundred quid less than the starting price he had it up on ebay for, he accepted and I drove it home the next day :).

Joshy seems to think he's Mike Brewer

will probably end up with similarly amusing results though :D

I'll be honest and admit that trading part time in the spirit of Wheeler dealer and Mike Brewer is something that I've wanted to do for years but never had the guts to go into properly.

Is it just me or are the headlights really dull/opaque?

Are they meant to be like that, as it seems a bit extreme if they're meant to be completely clear?

Its not just you. It seems to be quite an issue of Toyota/Lexus car of the day, the headlight plastic goes all dull and yellow. Can sometimes be sorted by polishing the outer lens with a abrasive polish otherwise they need to be split open and polished inside and out.

It'll be done in due time, plus a UK spec plate on the front as well I think :).

Some nicer wheels would really help that car too in my opinon. Did they do any better looking OEM ones? (aftermarket will look chavvy).

Oh, yes i do when i get a chance :)

Although i must say that it has taken something of a back seat in the last year or so, increased workload through my normal job, and also our properties have needed a lot of time/attention. I will have to get back on it at some point as its very easy money :o

Gave it a good going over with the rotary, added a good 4 layers of EGP after polishing too.

She's also had a remap now, should be putting out somewhere between 225 and 235 BHP, but need to get it on the rollers to get a better idea. Turns out that the 170BHP engine is identical (bar mapping) to the 200BHP engine as found in the A4, so it's had a remap based on it being a 200 rather than a 170, which is nice :) Pulls so much harder now, feels almost as quick as my LCR which weighs biblically less.

She's also been on holiday somewhere...

Very nice looking A6. What year is it?

Built in the same month as it was registered, that was quick, I thought mine was doing well with September 08 build, October 08 registration

I was just going off the dates moulded into parts of the car (plastic trim mainly), I guess it could be an earlier "build" date. Wonder if its on the car anywhere.

EDIT: Found it, it's part of the "build sheet" sticker on the car. It's a Week 3 (so late January) build, registered by the 13th Feb. Pretty quick turnaround ~3 weeks!

If you still have the build sticker it might have the week of manufacture on the top right, the build sticker is usually under the boot carpet or in the original service book.

Sell it with the minimal possible outlay Joshy, but clean that engine bay first! Look at the state of it! Not so keen on the body colour, does it look better in person?

Im still trying to decide if I should simply do the mininal outlay thing or actually put the effort in to make it nice. Not too much work is needed but it is all Time, money and effort and as much as I'd like to do it as an enthusiast of these cars, I've got to think about my back pocket. If I could see it being a long termer I'd be happy to throw money but at this point I don't want to spend anything I can't get back.

The colour is better in person. Those pictures make it look Mega dull, but black is still the best colour for these (and any car for that matter!) :).
