Oooow, a Skoda!

:p

I thought the 1.8T was generally pretty reliable?

Lol?

As I've said in other threads recently, the 1.8T loves to randomly throw up EML errors. Granted I've never had a 1.8T specific issue that has left me stranded anywhere (I don't really count the seizure round Donny, as that was out of the ordinary), but it has required pretty constant fettling/sensor replacement/troubleshooting.

Mine has (touch wood) been pretty solid on the sensor front so far, no issues. That said, they hardly have an overwhelming reputation for reliability. The later revisions are worse for sensor related troubles though as I understand it.

AGU :) As old skool as the 1.8t gets really, best bit about my car is the engine (149k on the ol' beast now). Worst bit is absolutely everything else :D Nah, give it it's due, been perfect for quite a while now...I've replaced everything.

I have had my cupra R (BAM) for 6 months now and not had any issues with it. It's now running around 280hp and still no issues as of yet!

I'll put more info/pics up when I've given it another clean.

There's always bad points or experiences to any car you buy. I was fully aware of the sensors, MAF's, Coil Packs etc etc that like to randomly die or fault, however with my much reduced mileage it was a risk I was willing to take.

A bit on the car... It's a 2003 Octavia vRS, 59k on the clock with two previous owners. Its pretty much mint bar a couple of stone chips, the wheels are starting to corrode under the paint now though so they need a refurb.

Totally standard bar a Forge FMIC and 007p Recirc valve!

Very happy so far :)

oh, ok:p Yeah I wasn't including Donington either:p

I guess my point is that "on the road" it's never done anything to leave me stranded with regards to 1.8T based quirks/electronics etc.

Donington was something completely different, and was nothing less than being pushed beyond the limit :D

Someone at work asked me if I had plans to take my Golf on track and the thought of your 1.8T immediately jumped to mind and made me think 'no' :p

Get it mapped up Phil, stick a full exhaust on (or at least 3" DP and sports cat) and some silicon boost hoses (the TIP mainly) and even on a stage 1 map I bet you'll be seeing 225 brake and 250lbft :)

Mine only has a ko3 so I cba to mess much, never gonna be over 200BHP without a bigger turbo.

my mondeo titanium tdci 130ps 6speed, picked it up this week like it so far, its done 112k miles, 1 owner from new, full ford s/h, does 52 mpg, i like the wheels and the xenons

Funny...

Hi, found my old car, on the right, in the local supermarket car park today. The new owner, who lives over 80 miles away, must have just picked it up as the paperwork was on the back seat. They've also had a towbar fitted
