Show Us Your Motors!

So what are the plans now. Wait until a suitable F10 appears on the market in the next year ot two?

Something like that yes though more 2 years than 1. Unless I can't hold out against an e39 M5 :p

Awww <3

Was the 335i that bad in terms of refinement and ride, in comparison? I know they're a different class, but still. The E39 is a lot older. I've not driven either of them of course, I'm just curious :)

It's not bad for what it is, but what it isn't is as brilliantly refined as the 5. I now realise the 5 is the right blend of comfort and 'sport' whereas the 335i was more biased towards 'sport'. The harshNess of the ride was often irritating when pressing on, mind.

Pope mobile

So, here's a picture of my Pope Mobile. Can anybody guess the make and model?

I just imagine Postman Pat every time I see one of those.

Surprised nobody has given one of these a makeover to look like Pat's van :D

It' the box shape with comedy tiny wheels that does it :p

If you ever feel like breaking out from your "predictable, unadventurous and ever so slightly dull" nature - I think an E39 BMW M5 would definitely be the thing to mark the occasion with. ;)

Glad that you sold the 335i eventually, but i'm still a bit confused as to how it took so long at that price.

Do you not miss the power under your foot? I drove a 135i on Saturday and i must say the noise and the power were really more-ish - definitely my sort of car.

Perodua Kenari.

... Just why? :p

Yes indeed, a Kenari! Well, I know it's a crappy car but I bought it second-hand for 1,150GBP, it is only 6 years old and had 67,000 miles. Cheap and cheerful, it gets me from A to B :p Driving down the motorway with a bit of crosswind is downright dangerous though!
The only drawback is the kids in the neighbourhood pointing at it every time I drive by...

Not had chance to use it yet. I have some time off work for a few week so I'll be sure to give it a good going over.

I have to ask is your name a reference to Ed101 from Carmageddon?

I'm pretty torn on it - on the one hand I've always wanted one and they are my favourite car but on the other 90% of what I love about them is already present in the 530i. Hmmmm. Perhaps one day one will jump out I can't say no to or something.

There isn't 900 people there queing up to buy a car like that. It was always going to take ages which is why the plan was to stick it up at 20k and simply wait for the right person to come along whilst refusing to budge on price by more than a few percent - it was priced right, it just needed one of the few people who are after one to come along. I had only 3 real enquiries the whole time. I feel the amount of time it took to sell was a bonus - it meant I got enough to time to properly enjoy owning the car. Had it sold 2 weeks after I bought it I think I'd have been a bit miffed. As it is, I was able to have a 335i for the summer. Excellent, box ticked :)

The power and the noise of the 335i was absolutely awesome. I loved nailing the throttle with the window open and enjoying the performance and fantastic noise from the exhuast but it became quickly apparent to me that this, along with iDrive, was pretty much the only thing I really loved about the car and given my usage profile it was rare I was able to use the performance properly anyway. I'm really glad I had one but it just isn't the sort of car I'd have been happy with long-term. Much of the sensation of speed comes from the combination of turbocharged ooomph, lower refinement of the 3 Series and the simply fantastic noise you get - it's actually only 1.5 seconds quicker to 60 than the 530i. It feels far quicker if you don't watch the speedo, but there is absolutely no denying how fantastic the midrange performance on the N54 engine is - any gear, any revs, it just goes - whereas the M54 requires you to be in the right gear at the right RPM to get the best out of it.
