Dominor you could have jumped into a 1.1 Saxo and you would have thought it was a rocket ship. It's all apart of growing up and having real life motoring experience.

330i 07, 56k. Full BMW SH from supplying dealer.
Active steering, comfort access (keyless entry and go,) bluetooth, hybrid tv, bmw assist, Sat nav pro, electric heated memory seats, auto, xenons etc etc.
Paid 11k.
That is particularly nice!!
Is that current values for these or just lucky?
Any ideas as to what it's doing MPG wise?

So do i actually and i don't think there's any need for people to be so belittling. Especially people who have made much more LOLworthy statements on here over the years. He's never said he's going to be destroying M3's from the line but obviously a MK4 Golf is nicer than most stuff people get as their first car and it'll feel fast to a first time driver - the guy is obviously just excited about getting his first car, as we all were.
Dominor, just enjoy your car. I'd forget about putting exhausts on it or whatever, just enjoy it - it looks like a very nice little first car.

It was his 'I'm in a 2 litre and everyone else isn't, ha ha' attitude that got peoples attention I think. Which is a bit cringeworthy at the best of times, even more so when said '2 litre' is the least powerful 2 litre offered on any road car in the last 15 years or so. Sort of understandable if he was 17 but then it turns out he's actually 24 anyway!?

Dominor, I was going to say Golf MKIV 2.0's are sloooooooooooow. I had one back in 99 or 2000. Anyway, one thing it had was a nice and solid interior. Comfy. Definately not worthy of a Gti badge by any means though.
But since its your first car, well done.. Although I find it strange to wait until your 24 to pass your test??? I had my car on my 17th b-day, and had my test passed within 10days.. It was the ONLY thing back then, that I wanted.. Car and test... Nothing else mattered, so I always find it strange why any guy would wait an additional 7 yrs before he felt the need to pass his test? But anyway even so, well done, for a 1st car the Golf MKIV is nicer than most other erm 17yr old kids get. FYI I had an Escort 1.1L Mk3 as my first, (1988 mind) and I had more fun in that tin can, than I've ever had in anything else.. Which has since included Mercedes, Audi Cabs. Thrased the living daylights out of it, lost control a few times too. But it was all fun. Lived to tell the tale.

So you've only just passed your test and you're talking ('bragging') about how good the handling of a car is when you have no experience in driving let alone driving at speed and cornering at speed.
I feel sorry for whoever's family member you end up crippling or killing because we all know it won't be the driver.

I would avoid the Sportex exhaust if you intend on driving anywhere that's going to result in a 30minute + trek up an A/B road or motorway

A friend of mines mum was paralyzed waist down by a stupid little brat that had been driving for 2 months and thought it was fun to cane it through a quiet village and lose it on a corner.
Whether he is going to do it through a village or not is obviously a different story but it's the principle. Inexperience leads to accidents and very often it cripples/kills someone else other than the driver.
Yes maybe I overreacted, but that's my feeling.
