Show Us Your Motors!

It's such a shame to see once great cars like the 200SX descending to a level where people can afford to buy them and absolutely ruin them like the example above. Great performance mods but what is going on with that exterior? It looks like it's been taken from a scrapyard, it's absolutely horrific. Even without the fact half the car is in primer none of the kit matches, the wheels are awful, it's just totally ruined.

Can't you stick to doing that to Corsas and stuff?

thats a bit harsh innit?

i can see what you mean to a degree, but at least the car has some function to it ie its damn quick, the bodywork side is obviously work in progress

What do you care? You're not bothered right? Please elaborate on the tyre tread being used for a speeding offence, it sounds interesting...

It's up to the driver to prove it's not them, not the police to prove it is. In all honesty though, no, I don't think you'd get done with just any car running your plates, you'd have to be pretty unlucky otherwise. In my experience (mainly with company car fleets) it does happen, and it causes the individual hassle to sort it all out. Garage cameras are lot more low res than speed cameras, they're mainly concerned with number plate recognition. This is where we had the most problems. To clarify, no-one did get prosecuted for something they hadn't done, but with some it involved a lot of hours and briefs to get it sorted.

It's all unlikely that someone will nick your number plate from a pic on the web, I'd imagine it's more likely from being spotted on the street. To say it is just scaremongering isn't entirely accurate as it does happen. My initial response was tongue in cheek hence the smiley ;) :)

Nice motor by the way, although I'm more of a mk1 fan :)

i was more of a mk2 fan but went for a mk3 because it was more 'sensible' although the interior is about to go and the car will be soley for track use. it has slowly progressed from a cheap run about to being more and more track orientated, i may as well go the whole way now.

youre right in saying its for the individual to prove, and on all the files i can remmeber from my time at the magistrates, it was proven quite easily (ie the alleged offence happening a couple hundred miles away, or the car having a different aerial... just small differences)

so with a car like mine (ie everything has been changed lol) its not a problem and anyway... the odds to start with are so slim

Its just a real shame to see great cars ruined, I mean I'm having difficulty how anyone can stand back and say 'Yea, that looks good!'. I mean why fit a bodykit thats in primer? Surely you can drive... shock... a standard car until the kit is at least the same colour as the car?

It's a shame, badly modified cars used to be awful cars anyway so we could just chuckle but now we are seeing more and more really nice cars.. ruined. There is a thread on the BMW forum at the moment about fitting 20" wheels to an E39 :(

ive not read his entire post, but it has to be a work in progress picture, but yeah, if i were to add a 'bodykit' (lol) to my golf, id at least make sure it was in a completed state before i put it on.

as for the 20" wheels thread on the E39 board... again, its a matter of changes being made for the sake of 'looks' (misguided 'i saw them on the fast and furious' i expect), never mind the fact that there is a 90% chance they will badly effect the way the car drives and rides due to the weight of them.

there are often similar posts on the GTI board, ie 'what springs should i get cos i wanna deck my car'. short springs on dead dampers is asking for a nasty car to drive, worse still theyll often buy those generic coilovers you see on ebay just to they can have the car 'slammed to the weeds', yet the car is undrivable because it is so low, the ride is utter cack and it wont go round corners because everything scrubs

that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to me, i just ignore the posts where people want to lower a car for the sake of lowering it (or adding 20" wheels for the sake of have 'dubs')

but... everyone is different. i dont have a pretty car, i couldnt care less how it looks, in short it is an old banger, but ive created it because i wanted raw cheap car to thrash the life out of. im sure i get slated for not having the coolest headlights or a vr6 front bumper etc but tbh, all the 'styling' cack does not interest me in the slightest as IMO its pointless for countless reasons.

and as for that 200sx looking like mad max's car, imo thats a good thing :D

lmfao how the hell does one bumper equate to half a car ? the reason i fitted it was the old bumper had a big dent, as for styling i like it, as do lots of other people, if you dont i couldnt give 2 ****'s.

Well from the size of it?!!!.... ;)

A car like yours will always provoke positive and negative responses, but as long as you're happy with it who cares?!

It's not my cup of tea to be honest, doesn't really compliment the car at all, way too 'max powerish' and non functional. Whatever floats your boat though :)

Finally got around to giving the ST220 a decent clean and polish.

Had it for the last few months and am absolutely loving it! Cost £6800, 3 months ago when it was on 45k.
