No thread isn't about that at all. The thread is about NVidia taking too long to release next gen so that those of us who bought a 4K screen over 18 months ago can actually start to enjoy games on it without having to buy multiple GPUs to run in SLI which is buggy as hell and soon to be obsolete. I was never comparing console to pc - I want to game and I can game on the XBox One X with a more pleasant experience than I can on a PC currently without buying 1080Ti's in SLI only to have a new 11** come out in 3-9 months which will do the same job for a lot less money.
Your thread got hijacked by people making it about consoles being exactly the same as PC but cheaper. I am curious though, if you had a 980ti and a 4k screen, why did you not get a 1080ti when they first came out, to maximise your usage of it? Why is it over a year later that you've suddenly decided you need a new GPU and its somehow nvidias fault they havent released a new one when reportedly the new memory isnt even available yet? Going off history the xx80 isnt a big jump over the previous ti so not only are you waiting for the next gen but actually the next gen ti, which was never going to be a March 2018 affair?
I completely get why someone wouldnt buy a 1080ti now with new GPU's closer. I don't get why someone who obviously values buying on launch day would say they were considering buying a pair of 1080ti's but got a console instead.
