@Kaapstad is hardly going to get his kicks by buying 4 PS4 Pros. This is the GPU section; no-one's interested in your console pish, or your 4 page essay style posts.
Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.
Ah so you also speak for "everyone" then?@Kaapstad is hardly going to get his kicks by buying 4 PS4 Pros. This is the GPU section; no-one's interested in your console pish, or your 4 page essay style posts.

ShowEQ was the most popular hack tool for EQ back then. I agree with you, EQ gave me some of the best gaming experience I've had, hacks and all.I count (2000/2001) EverQuest to be amongst the best gaming experiences, offline or online, I've ever had on any platform.
So I'm not utterly/entirely dismissive of online on PC. But even in that game there were tons of cheats, from the small-fry macroers - who automated entire teams of bots to replace the need for grouping - to the out-and-out hackers who could kill anything, anywhere on the map, without taking a point of damage. (Ghost killing it was called iirc).
Sorry mate but this statement is what's wrong with the PC elite's lol. Enjoy the best games with actual good game play. Zelda on the Switch was probably my favorite game last year, no 4k max ultra crap needed as the experience is what counts more.
I wasnt ever assuming the next gen would be cheaper - but I won't pay the prices for the current gen which still won't give me the performance I want - next gen will and I will pay for it, but I am not waiting any longer.I don’t think you’ll find the 11** series suddenly massively cheaper quite the opposite I’d guess.
As for the XBox One X, we’ve recently bought one for my son and having sat and watched him on it for hours (through him hogging the TV rather than anything else) I must say I’m very impressed by it, PubG is a stuttering mess but everything else seems to romp along just fine with stunning visuals, he’s currently into Sea of Thieves and whilst I’d argue my 1080ti based rig @ 4K has a slight edge when comparing the two formats it’s no where near an improvement enough to warrant the massive cost difference.
If anything it just underlines to me what a more sensible option the One X is if you merely want to play games at 4K.
Most people can do basic pc functionality via a tablet or smartphone these days never mind a laptop so if your really after a good gaming experience without breaking the bank then 4K consoles are the future at the moment.
I still prefer my pc as I can’t get along with game pads, if Microsoft or Sony implement keyboard & mouse support in games then I can see my rig being my last for gaming.
A shame ultimately but when your hobby no longer represents value for money and an alternative is delivering 90% of the experience (including a 4K screen) at less than the cost of a graphics card needed for 4K then it becomes a no brainier for the vast majority.
I went with the XBox One X specifically because many of the games I play are buy once play on PC or XBox - so when NVidia get their fingers out of their asses and release new hardware, I can come back to my PC and keep playing the games I enjoy without spending more money.I recently went with a PS4 due to the same reasoning, According to Microsoft we can expect to get future X-box games via the Windows store, It'll be interesting to see whether they keep to that now the One X is out but I bought accordingly. I've never played a Halo game and I'm hoping we start to see them on PC too,
I'm going to preface this by saying I dont consider myself to be that great when it comes to online competitive gaming, not bad, but not even "good", let alone great.
However, if that actually *is* true, then i must be flipping awesome, because on any given day I can usually be in the top half of the end board, and its not entirely unheard of for me to come top on my team.
I don't know how terribad you have to be to accuse everyone of cheating, but given how crap I am and don't see people beating me as cheaters then...
Not saying it never happens as I see the names of people being banned scroll across the top, but to say its "riddled" to the point of making it pointless to play is a gross overexaggeration i think.
Nobody ever said there was no benefit to owning a PC.
Also nobody ever said that a console offers the best experience, when money is unlimited.
Glad we could clear that up.
Which is fine. Everybody is entitled to an opion and to like what they like.
Just don't throw around lies like "consoles can't ever do >30FPS, lol".
If you are considering a console over a GFX upgrade, you probably don't have cash to throw at:
* A 4k monitor
* A 1080 ti
* A new Ferrari
This may be why you "don't understand 1080p peasants"... you probably have more money thansenseability to empathise with others.
Same here. I could buy a 1080ti or two if sli worked. But what’s the point in getting old tech when new shiny one is around the corner?I have 4k Monitor, 4k TV, Macs, PCs etc. what I won't do is downgrade my monitor to play PC games at a reasonable refresh rate (which is what I would have to do unless I want to run a ridiculously expensive SLI rig with hardware that is soon to be replaced with a new generation). Money isn't the issue, principle is.
I never implied anything, I quite clearly stated I was bought XBox One X because I was sick of waiting for NVidia to release nextgen - would be nice if you didn't falsely represent what I said, thanks.Somehow you are implying that a 1080Ti is equivalent to XBox One X? Even a measly 1060 would have probably get you better 4k experience than the xbox, I mean seriously, haven't you heard that consoles use techniques like these (checkerboard rendering, dynamic resolution, upscaling) to a achieve fake 4k at 30 fps, and also they do it at lower settings and small fov as well.
No thread isn't about that at all. The thread is about NVidia taking too long to release next gen so that those of us who bought a 4K screen over 18 months ago can actually start to enjoy games on it without having to buy multiple GPUs to run in SLI which is buggy as hell and soon to be obsolete. I was never comparing console to pc - I want to game and I can game on the XBox One X with a more pleasant experience than I can on a PC currently without buying 1080Ti's in SLI only to have a new 11** come out in 3-9 months which will do the same job for a lot less money.As I said there are a few compromise's and CPU performance is certainly one of them, but then this can do things the console cannot as well, for example it comes with a Blu-ray writer and a keyboard and mouse and that is without even talking about upgradeability.
The whole thread argument seems to be, well if you compromise the graphic's quality the console can be just as effective as a PC only much cheaper, I just wanted to show that, if you can use that argument then so can the PC master race, the above PC will play games with reduced settings just fine, as well as all the benefits that come with a PC over a console.![]()
